I orginally wanted it to be Nwanetsi. 8)

Then I thought Olifants overlooking the river from the lookout. 8)

The view from Nkumbe is great as is Longwe lookout. :?

I have never been to the lookout near Bateluer but believe it is also an amazing place.

Any one of those places will suite me fine.

Hmmm tough choice. I would have to say half anywhere quiet along the Pafuri and the other half at either Samevloeing or Kalahari tented camp in the Kalagadi Park.

There is no official facility to store cremated remains.

I think SANParks turns a blind eye to people scattering such remains as long as it is done in such a way that it does not interfere or offend, or break any rules.
But it is not allowed to leave a reminder such as a plaque or a stone of some kind.

The only official recognition allowed is the memorial benches already mentioned.

I am trying to get permission to scatter my mother-in-laws ashes in Kruger in December & I have been told I need to send a "letter of motivation" in order to get permission.
Has anyone else had to send such a letter?

Any help would be appreciated.

No need to do this imo
As far as i know there is no legislation anywhere in the world
I travelled a few times with ashes on different airlines
Not even legislation for that.

Unless you want to have a full memorial service in the bush
Then its a different story

Can anyone please advise the process to follow to get permission to scatter ashes in Kruger. I have been advsied that I need to send a letter of motivation to a member of SANParks (I have the details) before I will be allowed to "legally"scatter the ashes - has anyone else done this?????

Hi Bert - Just simply to scatter the ashes at or near Pafuri Picnic site in December. Perhaps I should have just done it without permission - just didn't want to casue a problem as it will be a busy time in the park & I do not want to disturb any visitors.

Just do it inobtrusively Jen and nobody will notice or worry.

My dad is now somewhere near Skukuza where my brother 'let him go'.

Sometimes it is easier to get forgiveness than permission

Currently if I were to meet the proverbial "bus" (or wild animal!) my first instruction is that my ashes to be scattered from atop Shikumbu near Phalaborwa. My second instruction is for the people present to stand upwind - hopefully they will look ashen enough already!

My will states that my ashes are to be scattered from the pontoon that crosses the Olifants river just before Balule satellite camp. After many trips to the Kruger that specific place is my favourite and I wouldn't mind spending "eternity" there. My SO has also said that he would like his ashes to be scattered from the lookout point at Olifants camp.

Pafuri Picnic spot for me please. Keep the ashes till summer when ALL the birds are present to sing the last farewells.
