Hello to All,
I was at the hide again today and found the Cape Wagtail nest empty.
I was concerned for a moment that something may have happened to them.
To my relief my concern was short lived because I hear them calling and to my relief
there they were in front of the hide with their parent bring worms non stop to feed them.
This is the best pic that I could take of them because they were obscured by some vegetation

Image

I also found Kibo (Brown-hooded Kingfisher) sitting in the fence alongside the hide with a grasshopper in his beak

Thanks also to anne-marie, vinkie & melph68 :gflower:

I saw two breeding herds of ellies yesterday at two waterholes to the south and south-east of the webcam.
These are only one to two kilometers away.
I so hope that these herds move closer to the webcam. :cam:
We will be in for some great sightings

Wonder if it could be an AWC? My ID books don't give the back of the ears :D

Hi Ronnie... any thoughts on this one? :hmz: :D
At first we thought maybe Genet, but Chirinda makes a good point - could it be an African Wild Cat?
Cheers!

This is a very difficult one to call

The Genet has bigger ears in relation to its head size than the AWC and are rounded at the tips.

The Genet is a smaller animal than the AWC.

The AWCs are very similar to the domestic tabby cats but are slightly larger and they do readily hybridise resulting in a variation of colours and markings found.

The AWC’s ears are smaller in relation to its head size than the Genet but are pointed at the tips.

Here are my pics taken of the AWC and Genet

I took this pic in the 1980’s of a Genet in the wild

Image

I recently took this pic of an African Wild Cat in a rehab center

I hope you find this info useful in your decision of.........

1) Is it a Genet
2) OR is it an AWC
