These were taken in June 2007 at Kgalagadi. Can't remember the exact locations but think it was on the road to Nossob from Twee Rivieren.

Sorry about the quality of photos as these were taken into the sun next to the road. Spot the AWC (Psssst, it's on the Sociable Weaver's Nest)

The next two were taken on the road from Mata Mata to Twee Rivieren.

In KTP, sightings are common, but in Kruger it is a rare sighting. Have seen at least 6 in KTP in 4 visits, and 1 in 18 Kruger visits.

I saw my first (and one and only) AWC in Kruger (near Olifants) in November 2001. My first 5 visits to KTP did not produce a single AWC. During my sixth visit (May 2007) we saw a total of 10 AWC's.

Saw another (my second) in Kruger in December on a night ride down the S100 from Satara.

Screening the webcam time-lapse videos I came upon the following and thought it worth capturing and posting here too.

African wild cat!

We were on a evening drive near Urikaruus, when we saw this beautiful animal, the African Wild Cat. She stayed for a long time with us and got used to our car. When an other car came, she disappeared but after the car was gone, she came back to us until we had to leave her because of the time. It was a great meeting with this beauty.

While staying at Satara in September we saw 5 AWC on our night game drive.
One was just a few meters from the front gate, ran across the road and into the short grass on the south side. It stopped long enough for all to see, but is was too dark for photos.
The others were all on the S100.
We also saw one on a night drive from Letaba.
We had the good fortune to see genet, civet, cerval, Leopard, Cheetah (8 at once) and of course Lion, while in Kruger.
My wife is a Veterinarian who specialises in Felids, so we really enjoyed all of the cats.
Last year in KZN we got a pretty good view of a female, who seemed annoyed by our presence, but stayed long enough for photos.

I just found this thread and enjoyed all of the great photos of AWC's. Thanks everyone!

Posted this in August 2007 and completely forgot about it. Saw a few in Kgalagadi and was able to get this pic during our trip in December 2007.

This is soooo special…that kitten is adorable. :D Bautiful photos, P@M

Have to say, now also looking at your photos, I realize how I almost took a AWC kitten home, thinking it was a normal cat  ….found it outside Croc Bridge…wrote a mini report on it that time….
