stelliegp123-Here we go.... FINALLY-Sep2011

Unread postby stelliegp123 » Fri Sep 23, 2011 12:20 pm

So, Hubby and I saved up for 5 very long years to buy our Conqueror Trailer, and eventually we could do our first trip.

We go to the park every year and having a 2 year old we stayed in chalets and not camping as we wanted.

BUT It all changed.

And so we packed (not much to pack as everything is in our trailer) and off we went.

We entered the Park via Orpen gate as we were staying in Satara for a week (about 3 weeks too short)

We got to Satara and set camp in a record time of 30 minutes. WOW! This is our campsite.

We relaxed a bit and off to the BEST place in the world.

We were very lucky with our sightings.

My son fell in love with this fellow and mommy had to pay R200 for this new friend. He named him Duke. Duke is still his best friend and there is no way he will go to bed without him

This madam was a little shy but oh so curious of our doings.

First time I ever saw this in real life.

This photo is for Ndloti, Thank you for telling me about this, you know the passion I carry for harry Wolhuter and we managed to get there and take some photos. This is the Site where the Lion Attack happened. I was hoping to see a tree, but this is what is left. Ndloti will know that is a dream come true for me.

Hubby woke us VERY early and we drove to the dam 7km from Satara.

This is what greeted us there.

The next day we did what we go back for every year.

We cant do Night Drives with little one, but I personally feel this is MUCH better than Night Drives...
We saw many animals and with this, being all by yourself we can spend time looking at the small things in life without explanation.

Mom and son doing the 4X4 thing, the shirts were made for our previous 4X4 trip, but still fitted all of us, so why not?

Leaving the park always bring tears to my eyes. Its sad to go, but good to know, that next year we will be back.

Stopped in Whiteriver to end our journey with a visit to the grave of Harry Wolhuter.

Well

Thats my photos for the trip we did in our new Conqueror.

A few points that I want to mention:

Satara is a great camp, but seeing that the camping is on a first come first serve basis, try to be there on a Thursday or a Sunday to get a spot next to the fence.

Olifants camp's restaurant is excellent. We enjoyed it so much and they even offered to make up a special lunch for the little one. The view is great

Personally I feel that the Rule of No Alcohol if not sleeping over is working well, we NEVER had any Loud company at the picnic Spots.

We have booked Skukuza for next year, only because my toddler will by 3 by then and I feel it is a more Child Friendly camp. (Tempted to go back to Tzendze though)

We did a comparisson on Pricing for certain Items, Meat, Veggies, milk etc and came to the conclusion that its not really much more expensive in the Park. No need to take everything from home.

Satara has an ICE Machine that works like a charm, for R5 per bag it really is worth it.

And that is about that. Please feel free to comment on my Trip report and photos.

Till next time Kruger PArk.
