What? Will RP be banned finally? Oh my! Peace at last. :D  LOL

Interesting discussion and only RP got cleaned up by the parents. Well behaved children. ROFLOL

But seriously though, to defend the poor Mods, I think that we need to accept that anyone who is put in a position of authority is never very popular with everyone. All of us always retain the "teenager" in us and want to rebel against "authority". I take the point that some people feel that a none Mod forumite might make people feel comfortable with the decisions made by the Mods, but how long will this last? How long will it take for this person to be labelled as lapdog to the Mods? I also believe that there is no need for a panel or forum. The Mods are doing a good job on their own and besides Admin and myself are always there to look at an appeal if it is justified. Unfortunately a couple of months back someone wrote to us to appeal a banning and instead took the opportunity to swear at us. Very odd.

Hello, Wanda, and nice to see you on the forums again!

As you quoted me, I shall respond as follows:

To continue your analogy, I have abundant experience of teenagers, being a teacher, and have found that parents are to blame for most problem children!

This could be either too much or too little discipline, for example, and the mods are doing a fine job, I agree!

But I don't know if they are the "parents" here, and most forumites are not children?

I don't quite understand the rest of your post regarding the topic...so what is your opinion on banned members being named?

Hi everyone - the poll closed a week ago and the mods would like to thank everyone for their comments, input and votes.

The forum admin will take all opinions into consideration and take a decision on whether banned members' names will be made public or not.

you should name them.

Its not shaming to be banned.

Agree with joekin!

Name them.

Any forumite worth his/her salt will know the reason they were banned and therefore in some instances, there is no shame(even honour!!!)

For instance, my opinion is that recent bannings came about because the mites were passionate about conservation, and spoke out against certain issues!

The forumites banned very well know the reasons, don't worry about that. This is about hanging out the dirty laundry for all to see, or not. And remember, not everyone uses an alias, quite a few use their own name.
So it's easy to find if you google a person. Now that is done very often by companies when people apply for a job. And then the chances of them getting a job suddenly look bleaker.

DuQues is correct.

If you work for any job that requires security clearance they check you down to the size of your underpants... They know EVERYHTING. Your credit ratings, how many fines you have had against your name, your tax standing, and yes they google you inside out. Just to figure out what you might do if you are in a position of responsibility.

You telling him to "get a grip" is indicative of bad manners. If you don't agree then by all means say so but don't be belligerent.

Ever thought that it was the way they spoke out that caused them to be banned?

I had to fill in a form two weeks ago, which is for my security clearance. One of the questions is about nicknames on the internet.
Now my family, friends, pub etc can expect to have a visit, undercover or not, asking questions about me. My websites will be read, and my comments here too.

Sure have Brummie!

Lets take Forumite X, who was recently banned. He had a history on this forum of sharing and imparting his vast wealth of knowledge on matters relating to SANPARKS. He did extensive research and had some wonderful threads.

He was passionate!!

Then, an issue arose that he felt was worth speaking out against.

He was branded a 'purist, a 'rascist' etc in the public media, not just on these forums.

So, it's fair to say he felt slightly aggrieved.

So, because he was passionate about conservation, SANPARKS are considering naming and shaming him, and as DuQues has threatened, will have a trouble finding a job??
