Good morning everyone.

We are traveling soon (mid-August) for 3week trip through Kruger, from Phalaborwa to Biyamiti, with sprints outside the park in order to re-supply ourselves with fresh(er) supplies periodically. Thanks for the guidance on not-Spar in Phalaborwa. Any similar guidance for when we are staying in the south (BnD, P'kop, Biyamiti) - I seem to recall from the last trip (2005) that there is a large Spar close to the Malelane gate.

Also, I am a type-1 diabetic and love my coffee sweetened. In the US, I use either Equal or Splenda sugar-replacements, and don't like the other options. Are Equal and/or Splenda packets sold in the Spar/Woolworth/PnP equivalents?

Thanks in advance.

Equal is available in all the bigger supermarkets in SA (and maybe some superettes).

easiest on route on the N4 to Malelane

We are going to be staying at the Kruger Park Lodge in Hazyview before spending some time in Kruger (Satara and Mopani).
See that there is a Pick n Pay and Spar in Hazyview - are these good stores or will we need to drive down to Nelspruit to stock up?

Thanks

You will have no problem finding what you need in Hazyview.

Remember the N4 passes Nelspruit these days, so the best place before Kruger to do last minute shopping is the Pick & Pay or the Spar in Malelane.

Or for a wider choice, but a bit further from Numbi stop at Ilanga Mall as you get to Nelspruit.
You will find a large Pick and Pay, a Game, and more.
And then when you turn on to the R40 to White River and Hazyview you find Spar stores on the left of the road too.
All with free parking.
But you will still find all you actually need in Hazyview!

Hi,

if you want a big shopping mall close to OR Tambo Airport:

Festival Mall Kempton
Corner CR Swart Drive and Kelvin Street
Kempton Park 1619

or

just along the N12:
Lakesidemall in Benoni: http://www.lakesidemall.co.za/
Tom Jones Street, Benoni

Benoni will be our choice on our trip from OR Tambo to KNP.

Hi, please can anyone advise if there is a decent supermarket at Komatipoort as we will be entering at Croc Bridge gate in October.

As you get into Komatipoort from the N4 there is a Spar on the right (first stop street you come to). It has a fairly good selection of goods, and you should be able to get all you need there.

Hi everyone.
In the same complex there is a German butcher with very nice meat, so you don't have to buy your meat from the spar. We went to the spar during our July holiday and we also stocked up from ther. It gan get busy during the late afternoons so it is much better on a Sunday ( depends on you traveling dates)
enjoy your last shopping.
regards

We visited the Spar in Hoedspruit and were able to get everything we needed. There are several shops right there, including a pharmacy and a bank. Very convenient.

Some people swear by Crossings because of the Woolies food store......
I walked in there once, gulped and walked out again!
The Spar there is nice, but smallish.
The one at the Grove, a new centre just up the R40 before the Riverside Mall is huge and has a wide range.

These days, as you get to the Nelspruit outskirts there is Ilanga Mall.
It has a large Pick and Pay with a wide range of goods, at least 2 liquor stores, Game, and lots of others too. You can park under cover - useful if it is hot, or raining - and walk straight into the Mall.
I have never seen it too crowded either - but then I do not go to Nelspruit that often anyway!

Wherever you stop there will be a decent supermarket and liquor store and you will get what you need......the size of the store will determine the choice of course!

There's also Riverside Mall in Nelspruit, just off the N4.

Got all the usual shops (P & P, Checkers, Woolworths, Cape Union Mart & a booze shop).

We flew into Nelspruit and it was a 10-15 minute drive to the mall to stock up. We found that Checkers had the most variety and best looking fresh stuff.

Google Maps to Riverside
