Hello, all. I'm new to these boards and trying to get my bearings around Kruger.

For the past several months I've been trying to make reservations for our group and it's been a bit difficult, what with the time differences--it seems I'm up every morning at 2 (our time) in order to make a call to the SanParks reservations office as it opens SA time.

Faithfully I've been checking the website on what seems to be an hourly basics and today a listing for a FU4V cottage came up. However, I can't find this on the LS map, all I can find is the FQ5 cottages. These FU4Vs are said to have a veranda with a perimeter (view?), but I'm quite baffled as to what the view might be, as I can't even locate the cottages!

Can anyone advise what these are like? I've read some poor reports about the FQ5 units and since this is a once-in-a-lifetime trip for us, I'd like it to be a pleasant impression of Kruger.

Thank you.

Kimanjome welcome to the forum and hope you find this forum interesting like we all do, the FU4V units at lower sabie are brand new units built at the camp,i have never stayed or seen them, but the fact that they brand new, they got to be nice, also these units are river facing.

UPDATE:

Just called SanParks to make a payment and the extremely competent agent Michelle/Pretoria office informed me the FU4V is a river view.

We stayed in the unit next to these when we were there in Jan. They were almost finished and I couldn't resist peeking through the fence. They look stunning.

They are facing the river at the opposite end of the camp from the restaurant and thus are in a really quiet location, with few passers by. The swimming pool is around the corner too, if it gets too hot.

Having stayed in renovated units previously I would expect you to be fairly comfortable.

Dear All,

Thanks for the query and indeed these are next to Keartland and replace the old two double unit clusters 93/94 and 95/96. They are nicely situated with river view and have the typical two bedroom with shower and toilet and open-plan living/kitchen area. Quite elementary but should be comfortable and with nice view. It would be great to get feedback after you have stayed there.

Kind regards.

JOEP
These units are most welcome, especially for those that have families of 4 or more, as the previous accommodation was only EH5 huts or the 2x FU5 cottages, which for their price, aren’t exactly value for money.

Please LS/SANParks build a few more units for 4 or more at LS

No, the Lower Sabie map is out of date.

I can't remember what numbers the BD2U bungalows are but they are further away from the restaurant. I know we had 81 and 82 in Nov 09 so they are around that area. They have a double bed rather than 2 singles, some have a cage for the fridge so it isn't in your bedroom and they have been upgraded.

The BG2U have not been upgraded yet and are in a really sorry state.

Hi there

I finally managed to book a night in Lower Sabie for the first time ever! The 2 units that I booked are BD2U. Has anyone stayed in one of these recently?

Reading the forum, I see that there has been some renovations done and also some complaints about the units being too close together? (i.e noisy etc)

Just needed some advice if I should rather opt for a family bungalow in Berg en Dal rather that the BD2U units?

Thanks for the help!

The BD2U units are great, don't change your booking. They are semi-detached so you are linked to your neighbour but so well built you will not hear a thing. Outside there's a wall which separates the stoep/braai area.

Hi there :D Storma

Just returned from LS - I went to the new Family Units to see for myself for future visits and I can tell you that they are GREAT   . They are situated at the very end of the chalets with a view. They are very near to the fence and river in front. The view is super.

They have a nice and cozy semi-private patio with braai, inside a big living area with a complete kitchen with stove, double door fridze and even a microwave. From the living area two sliding doors lead to 2 identical rooms, each en-suite.

The decorations are very stylish - you will have a wonderful time.

Alf,

They are brand new and the map hasn't been updated yet. They are at the opposite end from the restaurant, next to the Keartland guest house. They are renovated BG2U units.

Alf, just returned from lower sabie yesterday.

There are two of the 4 bed units, numbers 93 and 94, right next to the guesthouse. They upgraded 4 of the old bg2u bungalows to the new two bed units, very very nice view, small lapa area, nice kitchen, microwave etc ( will ad photos to accomodation thread)
They are currently renovating units 92, 91, 90, 89 ( right next door) to new bd2u units, the only old bg2u units left that side are 85, 86, 87, which they will apperently renovate later.

Hope it help.
