Hi MarcSF - Welcome to the forum.

I agree with both of the above posts - do your shopping before Nelspruit.

If your flight lands at 10H30 you will not leave the airport before 12H00 (Hoping that the flight is on time - )

So yes - As Imberbe and Mgoddard have said either The Highveld Mall in Witbank (eMalahleni) or the East Rand Mall near just off the R21/N12 highway (Personally I would drive to Witbank as the East Rand Mall can be so busy and crowded on a Sunday)

Safe travels and enjoy your time in the park.

Have a look here for details on the Highveld Mall

Welcome, MarcSF!

A good spot would be Superspar on the left hand side approaching Riverside Mall.
They are easily accessible and have a wide selection...although a bit more pricey!
Stay open until at least 17h00 on Sundays, probably 19h00!

Remember, no booze for sale in Mpumalanga on Sundays! :naughty:

Enjoy!!

The lowveld is well stock with any thing....

You can get it from Witriver, with have a Pick&Pay and Spar or even in Hazyview where you have the choice of Spar, Pick&Pay and Checkers. Liquor stores in the lowveld you normally find around each corner. No need for Nelspruit as the Smaller towns have much more than just basics

From the airport come into White River, there is a Pick & Pay and a good liquor store in the same shopping centre, from there you are on the road to Numbi gate.

Totally agree - we always shop there.

As far as I can remember, there is a Spar, as well as superettes, in Thohoyandou, about 60km from Punda gate. Then, of course, there is the Park shop at Punda itself, with sometimes limited supplies though.

Hi James & Kitja
We fly to Kruger every year and do have the same problem, last year I e-mailed the Pick' n Pay in Malelane with my shopping list.
Their service was excellent and not only did I get the best of what i ordered, but is was ready and packed end kept in cold storage.
It took me 10 min to get my supplies for 7 people for 10 nights!

Staying at Orpen you will probably go through Orpen gate?
Then 30 kms before the gate is Hoedspruit with one of the Best SPAR stores.
We always stock up there and restock if we have to when staying at those Orpen area camps.

If you are coming in at Kruger gate much further south then Hazyview is good as Bert says but you must have good refrigeration in the car as it is 5 hours in lowveld heat to get there.
Malalane stores are good as mentioned above but even further to drive than Hazyview.. Stick with Hoedspruit and you wont have to worry...

Coming from Orpen to Hoedspruit, there is a Spar on the right hand side as you enter Hoedspruit.

If you want to shop in Hoedspruit it is about 30 k's past the Orpen turn-off (coming from the south), but there is a relatively new P&Pay in Hoedspruit. (very nice shop).
As you enter Hoedspruit from the south you will see a Total filling station on the left, immediately after opposite the Total filling station) turn right and right again into a shopping complex, the P & Pay is at the far end.
Also a great Pizza place there, if you've got the munchies, on the left as you enter the complex.

Always use the Pick&Pay at Malelane
easiest on route on the N4 to Malelane

We are going to be staying at the Kruger Park Lodge in Hazyview before spending some time in Kruger (Satara and Mopani).
See that there is a Pick n Pay and Spar in Hazyview - are these good stores or will we need to drive down to Nelspruit to stock up?

Thanks

You will have no problem finding what you need in Hazyview.

Remember the N4 passes Nelspruit these days, so the best place before Kruger to do last minute shopping is the Pick & Pay or the Spar in Malelane.

Or for a wider choice, but a bit further from Numbi stop at Ilanga Mall as you get to Nelspruit.
You will find a large Pick and Pay, a Game, and more.
And then when you turn on to the R40 to White River and Hazyview you find Spar stores on the left of the road too.
All with free parking.
But you will still find all you actually need in Hazyview!
