Thanks for the info Dinkybird.

Just hope it's nice and sunny when we out there.
The solar batteries can be a bit of a problem when people do not switch off the lights after visiting the bathroom or kitchen area.
It will even impact the pump, which will result in no water if the reservoir run dry.
It happened to us during our one visit. :(

If all the campers work together and make sure that themselves and their kids switch-off the lights when you the last one leaving it won't be a problem. :rtm:

I am considering a stay at the Tsendze camp. I see that one can book a specific camp site, subject to availability. Can anyone tell which site (number) is the best, please?

Hi Awie

The one site that we always try and get is no. 3. Nice and private, close to the ablutions and nice afternoon shade. Also one of the few that is perimeter.

Next favourite is no. 26 and then no. 15.

No 5 & 6 are also good if you take both stands.

Hope it helps

Enjou Tsendze

Next question ! Are we able to go on night drives from Tsendze, :D if so are you fetched by the vehicles at Tsendze or do you have to drive to Mopani and back at night?

Oh and something else, does it get very cold end Apr / beginning May at Tsendze nights and early mornings ? :)

I am sure it would operate in the same manner as Tamboti where the night drive vehicle from Orpen collects the guests .

It is normally quite warm at that time of year at Tsendze , though a cold snap could make its presence felt .
A jersey may be usefull at night if you are prone to feeling the cold .
Take a jacket along for night drives .

Hi All,Has anyone ever camped on sites 8 & 9?
We rang Mopani and explained that we would like 2 sites alongside each other with as much shade as possible. It was recommended that we take stands 8 & 9.
Would appreciate some guidance from the regulars. Thanks all

Most of those sites up to 24 (besides 5 & 6) have vegetation separating them .
Send me a PM with your email address & I will send you a personalized map that a friend drew up .

Rodger, hi again, we'd like to know about the camp gate - do people open and close it as they come and go into camp, or is it manned by somebody, or....... is it open all day

Roger may not see this inquiry immediately , allow me to answer ... ?

The gate is closed / opened by each visitor as they leave / arrive .
Elephants have on a regular basis made their own entry / exit points .

It leaves a track large enough to mistake for a pythons , but it is not a python .
I saw it when stepping off the concrete slab at the exit to the gents ablutions , later while braaing I heard a rustling which I mistook for the wind in the trees , upon looking back down to the origin of the rustling in the grass - about 2m of snake - its tail had not appeared from the grass yet - was emerging from the grass between the braai where I was sitting and my gazebo .

Tsendze (as well as Tamboti) has much more natural vegetation than conventional camps - thus many more snakes and scorpions are seen there .

Had three wonderful nights at Tsendze.
We camped at number 22 and were very satisfied.
Site 22 is HUGE with enough shade and is also close to the kitchen/ablutions.

I wish to applaud Roger and Elena for doing a super job at Tsendze.
It was great meeting the two of you.
Your camp is tops and my favourite by far!

We had a chat with Garth Holt (Camp Manager from Mopani) as well...nice meeting you!

Herewith a photo of Elena, Garth Holt and Roger:

They have communal freezers that work well. They are quite big, so you won't have a problem.

Hi robbie B83.
We had the pleasure of camping on site 26 last week and no scops owls! Rodger told us about them and that they usually there in the summer months but as you can see the hornbills welcomed us.

Image

Rodger and Elina it was an pleasure meeting the two of you and you both made our 3 nights at Tsendze very special. Tsendze is a gem and one the best places we've camped at!

We had some very special sightings but the cherry on the top was this leopard 3km's from Tsendze on the road to the Mooiplaas waterhole on our very last drive!

I would like to thank Rodger and Elina for their efforts at Tsendze. The ablutions and the camp are neat and clean and you always make us feel welcome there.

Another thing...I don't blame you for the bicycle incident. It's up to management to deal with this.

Here a photo of Rodger and Elina doing their rounds:

Thanks again Rodger and Elina for a job well done!
