I will be in the kruger from 1 June 2011 till the 7 June 2011, 2 nights tamboti, 2 skukuza and 2 lower sabie.

Know the lower sabie area well. Almost a newbie for skukuza(been there, never slept over) and complete newbie to tamboti(never been there). Which roads in this area of these two camps would be the best to travel ?

Then when going from tamboti to skukuza, tar road(h7, h1-3, h1-2) vs dirt road(s140, s36), which would be the best route ?

Hello there WW :D

I do hope that you have a stunning stay. I tend to take tar until Tshokwane and then I take the S33, the Vutomi road. All roads are good though.

I do hope that you enjoy Tambotie. If you have time, I would recommend the S39, the Timbavati road. It is one of my favourite routes.

Thanks for the advice so far. 3rd year in a row that I am going around the same time. Use to go a lot as a kid, just have few memories left of those years :D Had a few absented years, but this is gona chance and would love to go more than once a year.

Think the best might be to use our gut feelings when on the road in the park and see what it delivers. Just keep a map handy in case get lost and don’t drive to far away to make it in time back to the camp sites.

Seeing forward to tambotie, heard and read a lot about it so far.

Try to work out the route to go to the kruger. As we will be sleeping over in Dullstroom. Wondering what the best entrance would be, Phabeni or Paul Kruger gate ? Any suggestions ? And what route will be the best to get there ? driving early ours of the morning. Want to be at the gate when it opens.

If it were me, I would do via Lydenburg, Sabie, Hazyview and then enter at Phabeni Gate.

Whichever route you choose, we wish you a wonderful trip and hope you see everything you hope for.

Entered via phabeni. With in the 1st hour saw 2 male lions right next to the road. First 2 days has been great, last 2 days bit one the quiet side. Hoping for some action the last 2 days. Was a few minutes to late to see 4 cheetahs taking a zebra for lunch. Have a few after action photos. The baby lion cubs was the best so far. Off to a sunset drive in a few minutes. Can't wait...

Tamboti is awesome ! Had 2 large-spotted genets and 2 honeybadgers visiting our tent at night. It is quiet and relaxing.

Will do my best at the trip report. :)

Tamboti is special. So peacefull compare to the other camps. First and last time in skukuza. Will never go there again.

In lower sabie now, wish it was still in tambotie. Quieter than skukuza, but doesn't get close to tamboti.

Got our first leopard sighting today. Heard there was a cub as well, but couldn't see any. Just the mom.

Which roads the best for a day trip around lower sabie ?
