Lion!

Looks like a hyena to me... lion would be bigger I think

I went looking for two similar pictures. The first one is a hyena (came in a sequence and they were clearly recognizable in the other photo) and the second a lion. Looks like pretty much the same webcam angle than last night. At first I though hyena as well, but comparing yesterday's capture with the above, I'm with RP.

A Hyena could be about the same size as a small lioness - indeed back to square one

Very difficult to tell the size & shape from that distance. On the times I've stayed in Addo we only ever saw & heard jackal and hyena around the main camp... the hyena den is about half a mile at most up the slope directly left as you look at the cam, so that's still my hunch.

This is a Southern Tchagra, a first for Addo webcam.

I have had computer problems so I have been off the net for the last week so catching up on all the sightings.
My vote is that it is a Hyena.

hyena in the first one, and a lion in the second, you can tell by the head stance and the colour is different

I'm still with Ronnie on this one... if you know the park well you'd give it 99% probability to the hyena

It's a long shot, but I'm wondering if this could possibly be an aardwolf?

Great sighting... I must admit it really doesn't look like a BBJ. Looks like a black patch towards the end of the tail, and possibly a stripe behind its head? Aardwolf would normally have more stripes, but it's a bit difficult to tell from that distance and with the lighting. Might it be a cape fox?

Very tricky indeed!

Looking at the size/lack of stripes, I think Aardwolf and Cape fox are ruled out.

Best I can say is a very dull Black-backed Jackal!

I would say Cape Fox - uniform colour and black last 1/3rd of the tail, I'm not experienced enough with webcam sizing though
