We stayed overnight at Bontebok Park on 24Feb 11. What a pleasure to stay in a beautiful clean cottage with windows and glass- doors all round. The view on the Breederivier, the tranquil atmosphere, the friendly staff at reception . The only negative remark are the roads that are not in a good condition , with the results we did not do any sightseeing as we were not in a bakkie or four by four.

We have never really had bad roads there, but there are one or two spots that are worse than others, but then we have a hilux.....

Hi Bri

Firstly - Thank you for your compliment on the cleanliness of our chalets, and the views from it - I will pass it on to our staff that ensure our guest can relax in a clean, comfortable home away from home.

On our roads - We have done quite a bit of work on our roads in recent years. The sections not in acceptable condition, are getting fewer and fewer. Hopefully we would one day be in a position that we could really say all our roads is "excellent".

The restcamp is situated so close to our hiking trails, that it is relatively easy to experience at least some of the beauty of Bontebok without having to go too far.

Your feedback is very important to us, so please send me a PM if there is anything that you want Bontebok to be aware of.

Good Morning

The shop do sells ice.

With the town about 6km away - it is easy to stock up on perishables if and when needed.

We have just returned from a nice 2 night stay at Bontebok. We saw lots of bontebok, rhebok and evern a grey mongoose. None of the elusive 8 mountain zebra though! The roads were not that bad except for a few patches. We just slowed down and drove slower - helps with spotting.

The chalets were great. I do think that they could do with aircon in the wrmer months, as Swellendam can get very hot, but you tend to forget about all of that when you go for a swim in the Breede river. The swimming "hole" was the best part of the trip for me. We made full use of this both days!

Hi Greg

Thank you for your positive message, we are so glad you have enjoyed your stay here 8)
Just remember: There is much more to do and see in Bontebok, like plants (the alloes will be in bloom round about end August) Birds (Denham's Bustard, Southern Black Korhaan, Swee Waxbill, Southern Boubou, to name a few) as well as the other animals you are yet to spot

We are looking forward to your next visit here ...

If you know what I know ....

If you just want to break away from the city, to experience nature in a place that have conserve so much of the inherent beauty of Mother Nature, to take :cam: to recall great memories.....

With the backdrop of The most scenic mountain range in the Western Cape (OK, I might be a bit biased! )

I just have to ask the following:

What is stopping you?

This truly does sound like a grand place to visit. I have driven past the entrance so many times I have lost count, lived in George some years ago. I think that next time I should turn in.

came from the States and booked this park because it was on the way to capetown. The park, cabins and small town were all beautiful. We woke up and had to change a flat tire (bad roads and small car) but it was fine since bontebok were about 10 yards away the whole time--pretty much grazing next to the cabin. Also, I believe its cabin 4 that from the porch actually connects the point of the v in the river--so you can see both sides flowing. If you want to get away to read, write, fish or just enjoy the quiet, this place rocks.

 kemit, what an awesome post........I agree......We love Bontebok NP - the tranquility and the sense of " being out there", even though the town of Swellendam is just a few Km's away.......soo special.......A small Park that deserves sooo much more!!!
