Regards the speeches, if 'Mr William' didn't paraphrase every thing every speaker said and in this case just highlighted the poem, we would have eaten an hour earlier.

Its very difficult to look attentive sitting in front when your stomach thinks your throat's been cut

Not only paraphrase, but there were also a few remarks made that were a bit on the "dodgy" side.
Reeking towards racism so to say.
And I keep asking myself. Why a poem in Tshonga?

I know Im a bit late but I would just like to thank every one involved, the week end was awesome, unfortunately I couldnt meet every one there but to the guys I did meet it is very nice to put a face to the name

Next time I will try to organise a longer trip and ill be an experienced camper by then so I wont have my time torn up between everything.

Guys are you not being just a little harsh? The function started late not because of SANParks but because the forum members changed the programme at the last minute. We have taken a lot of flack in the past if just one person does not get thanked meaning long thank yous. Again from forum members. And honestly to say there was a leaning towards racism by William? And I personally thought the poet a lovely touch. Here we had a humble staff member volunteer a poem on his love for the park. I really thought seeing the park staff get criticised for not caring this would be welcomed. I really feel no matter how hard one tries to please some will always look for some fault. I do hope you will volunteer your services for the next planning com.

DB - I can accept the facty it started late due to forum members, that is true - but it was for a good cause. But the MC did not know the programme at all, he kept repeating everything that was said and once or twice repeated himself. And I have never known an MC thanking himself for being MC.

Compliment - I do have to hand out a compliment here. THE FOOD WAS REALLY GOOD, some people might not enjoy the spicey stuff, but the quality was really good.

Sorry if I have overstepped my boundaries here DB, but I never said it was William or anybody else.
It was the context that it was said in and everyone at our table noticed it.
Please do not ask me what it was as I cannot remember it exactly any more, but maybe some of the other mites can help me out here if you want to pursue it further. (I must be getting old. )



I think it was just great that a member of the staff made such a great effort and I DO applaud him for doing so.
Only it was in Tshonga, which hardly any of us understood and the translation and essence got lost due to bad English and bad acoustics.



It's a lot easier for me to do my bit now.

I don't have a problem with the poem, it fit it as well as the 'Orange Angels' and KTP 'dance did. However, I do find William's presentation style boring and repetitive. I believe that Ray did most of the MCing last year and it went much more speedily.
It is important to acknowledge everyones input and help at a function like this, but to hear a precis of what a speaker has just said is mind numbing.

It was unfortunate that we only finished the cricket after 6pm. In that heat there were just too many overs to be completed in the time available. You know my feeling on that!

I don't think the speeches were to long or one sided and also the thanks were ok. I wasn't there to listen to them, was outside having a smoke and organising my beer

Hey Uncle, next time we sit on the veranda, sipping cold beers, and the weekend was awesome.

But then again, to umpire the ladies game, well we did have the best view of all those beatifull specimens

Hehehe the speaches was a bit long but I also thought the poem was great. Or at least the thought of the poem was great. I didnt understand it but as DB said it takes something to present your poetry to a largly "non Tsonga" audience.

The food was great The spicy stuff to;) I got to have seconds cause knibbles just looks at spicy stuff and burns so I got two helpings

I didn't notice anything untoward in Williams talks either? The thought of a little Boorgatspook Tekuli is just funny The best part was Ray's accent saying "boergetspoek" tihihihihi it was funny man

Went of to Fishbowls (Charl) hut after the function to finish the party but lasted only half an hour as we were dead tired. It was a lot of fun. Burnt and extremely stiff but non stop fun as ussual.
