Let's see whether this topic gets active again after a break of 2 years :hmz:

My top 5 Kruger roads are:

S63 Pafuri Picnic spot road (awesome for birds & mammals)
S99 Mahonie loop (stunning for landscape and birds)
S143 Tropic of Capricorn loop (looks like in Serengeti from Nshawu to Tihongonyeni :D)
H7 Orpen to Satara road (Cheetah hotspot )
H10 Mlondozi road (Cheetah & Lion hotspot & good for grassland birds)

Hi ossendryver,

You made an interesting selection. At last you mention "from Letaba to Shingwedzi". I assume you mean the H1-6 tar road. I personally have had better luck when moving away from the H1-6 and taking S48 (Tsendze loop) instead and further north I had better sightings on the S50 up to Shingwedzi.

Hi M G
I mean the tar road. Because always have good luck. Last week I saw 3 lions on the road two different times. Saw lots of hyena and lots of other animals.

Hi flying Cheetah,

You made an interesting selecion:
S50 – I like it too, but the section in the middle (near Nyawutsi) can be a bit dull.
S25 – top predator road
S28 – White rhino, reedbuck, cheetah and lion road
S44 – scenic road, but I never had much luck in terms of mammals and birds there.
S56 – also one of my favourite roads – last January I found a female leopard with her two cubs there

Hi BB

The S100 is a good game-viewing road - but I think it is a bit overrated :hmz: and traffic can be very heavy  .

While being in the Satara area I prefer to take the H7 (very good for cats and dogs), the S39 (Timbavati river road), the H1-4 (Witpens and Ngotso waterholes are predator hotspots) or the S126 (Sweni road).

Good choices all around.

My contribution:

s28 (Saw Duke, 4 Lions and later Lioness with older cubs)
H4-2 (Not only does it set a beautiful tone as you come through CB but also saw Leopard, Cheetah and Black Rhino in the space of 10mins)
s100 (Never disappoints)
s91-s92 (Beautiful loop road near Olifants)
Mlondozi Loop (Can be light on the game but a great feel with the long bush, did see jackal, kori and ostrich my last trip on the road so not all in vain)

I see a lot of posts mention the s25. I drove it last year but other than a stunning experience watching an ele taking a mud bath not much game. Any tips on the best part of the day to drive this route?

Had almost my 'finest hour' on this road just after gate opening.

My favorite 5:

1. S39 - Timbavati Road (together with it's extension on the S36)
2. S30 - Salitje Road - first memories of Kruger is of this road
3. S35 - near Orpen Dam - always have good sightings there
4. S120 - Steilberg - just because it is so quiet and scenic
5. S25 - Crocodile River road - never dissapoint.

Trouble about CB BK, is that all 3 roads (s25, s28 and tar road) can deliver awesome sightings in the early morning :wall:

I'm there in that area for 4 nights in total (a couple at LS), so Ill be def driving all of those roads. Had great sightings of cheetah, leopard and lion on the s28 and tar roads last time. really keen driving the s25 more than once this time though.
