This is my partners first visit to the RSA and the KNP.

We arrived at Letaba late afternoon on the 12 March. The next day we drove up to Mopani along the H1-6. Returning from Mopani we spotted a solitary lioness walking near the Middelvlei water hole. She was then joined by two others who appeared from the bush. Suddenly another lioness appeared from the opposite direction chasing a warthog. Yet other lionesses joined them and ambushed the warthog, the kill took place approximately 20 foot from the side of the car.

Needless to say this was a very sudden and unexpected event, and although my partner were aware of the lions being close by, she did not realise that a kill was about to take place. With adrenalin flowing and cameras to hand, she took pictures of as much of the action as possible. It is impossible to put into words the feeling whilst all this took place, but needless to say it was an unforgettable event which at times felt rather too close for comfort.

This is a video clip taken by Propolis and Bird Song during our recent visit to KNP. It was quite difficult to take stills but the video was able to capture the leopard in low light at dusk. There were two leopards, mother and youngster, video only captures one, due to difficult conditions at the time. Enjoy everybody!

Yes, we have too :)

Am not sure of the number in the KNP, but they are not that uncommon, nearly always see them.......

These pictures are scaled down and optimised a lot. The originals will appear on our website once I have done it.
