 Not a good idea to keep as a PET!!! I tend to agree with B5S, Black Mamba!

Black Mamba or not... is not a good idea to keep as a pet...
a snake who come from nature has to return to nature

It does not only look like a black mamba ... it is a black mamba. The head and mouth is a give away, more so than the body colour.

What you have there is DEADLY! Even though it still may be small it can kill you. Get it to a snake park as soon as possible and be very careful!

BM do occur in the midlands.

I will not go near it with a pole - let alone handle it with braai tongs..
Be extremely careful!

Gotta agree with the previous posters - definitely Black Mamba (with or without a distribution map).

...and gotta agree with anne-marie - a snake from nature belongs in nature (with or without highly toxic venom).

Many people would just panel beat the poor thing with a garden spade, but I hope that you will find a way to re-introduce it to nature some way from your (and other people's) gardens. Nonetheless - you are in a beautiful area where you obviously have some wild areas around and now you have been warned .... expect to see more, so be careful with pets and children ...... and it's not worth moving away!

Such a beautiful snake!

I was wondering if it is possible to make a young snake like that tame such as a tame lion/ cheetah so that it doesn't bite!...imagine walking around your neck with a tame 2.5 m black-mamba!

(Real men wear black-mambas around their necks and not pythons...that is for sissy's!)
