Just had a look at the sightings board, the following was spotted yesterday.

Cheetah at Mata-Mata
Lions at Samevloeing, Leeudril and houmoed.
Leopard on the dune road just before Samevloeing towards Aoub river.
Suricates on the same road as the leopard and at Samevloeing.

Just got sightings report from Nossob.

Guests which drove from Twee Rivieren yesterday saw 19 lions (Seperate sightings). Leopard tracks have also been found next to the fence heading towards the waterhole.
The duty manager at Nossob mentioned that around Nossob there are plenty lions to be seen the last week or so.

Hope to meet you in November

Micetta,

Sorry for the late reply, but here goes. Leopards are very solitary animals and also very territorial (The size of territories depends on water and food supply), in the event whereby they do have cubs their territories will not change but the specie will become much more protective. They will still be very mobile in their territories.

Cheetah is basically the same, they will have their territory where they will hunt and raise their young.

If you know where the territory of a leopard / cheetah is then the chance that you would find that specific animal in that are again is very good, if the food and water supply stays enough.

Cheetah's territories are larger than leopards (But remember the food and water supply).

Hope it helps.

So exciting...what about pangolins...ha...do you have any handy? Pangolins, even just one, would negate the 'plenty of snakes' comment. Ha!
Thanks again.

Some reports from the wilderness camps.

Grootkolk:

Since monday they have had lions in and out of camp, yesterday and today they have seen a female with 4 cubs hanging around the camp. last night they had a leopard which came to drink water at the waterhole.

Kieliekrankie:

Lions have been heard roaring but not seen although they had a brown hayena which visited the waterhole.
