of all the camps I have found Satara most difficult for these kind of requests.

Olifants fall over themselves to help, Orpen is similarly helpful, Skukuza has just been very very helpful on the phone,( we will see if our special request actually works out) but Satara

Last year I requested a late departure at Satara as the team were on a bush walk. It was all agreed,in writing, but the cleaning lady would have none of it, so as thankfully I had stayed behind I had to try and keep the peace, it was all very stressful especially as the vervets were busy emptying out the bungalow next door where they had left thier windows open!

Isnt it good news tho that departure time ( at last) is now 10am, and although arrival time has moved back an hour as well they will let you have the unit if it is ready.

Please remember that Satara is a very busy camp and is almost always fully booked out. It must be close to impossible to accommodate every request that they get so someone is always going to be disappointed. Remember that requests are not guaranteed.

I just phoned Satara Reception again regarding my enquiry whether my parents are allocated a bungalow next to my SO and I, and was prepared to ask for the Duty Manager.... but I received fantastic service from Tebalelo who checked and confirmed that we have been allocated bungalows next to each other.

Thank you Tebalelo

I love Satara, it is one of my favourite camps. I think that at the end of the day it all depends on the luck of who you get on the end of the phone or the email.

Been to Satara last month, had a few requests as we were 18 people, all requests was handled perfectly, no problems, requests at Lower Sabie were also what we asked for.

Hi all

We booked 2 nights at Letaba BD3 and on the website they say its a perimeter, but does these bungalow's have a view? Who stayed in one of these bungalows before and can show me a picture of the view?

We really want a bungalow where you can sit in front and watch the river (or part of it)

And we also booked a FA6 family bungalow at Berg en Dal. Any suggestions on a nice location?

I haven't stayed at the BD3 units before in Letaba, but it looks like on this map of the camp that it is on the left of the reception, on the perimeter and not on the river itself. Look top left of the map.

Not sure about the Berg en Dal locations.

Ravvie, I've stayed in no. 21 and its got a great view, situated very close to the fence. You won't be disappointed. Its so awesome to sit on the deck and look over at the river, and listen to the hippos at night and watch the baboons congregate in the huge tree nearby.
I'm staying there in Jan. but also leaving for the park this Friday for 5 nights, but not staying in LS this trip.
Would love to hear how you enjoyed LS on your return.

:D :D Thanks Alf  I shall make my special request. Thanks for reminding me of the H7 - we usually stay at Tamboti and one morning, saw the big 5 within 30min on this road  and on top of it, a pack of wild dog playing for 20min. on the H7. My favourite though :hmz: the Timbavati road to picnic spot, up and down and down and up
Keep well

Emily86,

If my memory serves me correct i think tent no 2 has the best view but keep in mind it's a wheelchair friendly tent so they will only be able to book it for you if nobody asks for it.

Thanks Alf. Wheelchair access might help actually as SO's ma has to use a cain and has her good and bad days when it comes to steps. This is a daft question but would you say that the shower is a good size (she has a portable chair she has to use to sit under the shower)?
