The map can be a bit deceiving, as they also have BD3E in the D circle which are essentially the same type of unit but with the verandah enclosed with wire mesh. #'s 81 to 84 whereas the others are open.

Aside from the awesome BD2V units, I would say the BD2N are the next best units in Satara...

If you are booking them, try to get number A 13 -19 as all of these are on the perimeter

I was wondering if anybody can tell me where exactly the guest cottages (types GC5, GC6B or GC6BD) are located in Satara - can't find them on the map ! Any hints of which number we should ask for?
Your help is much appreciated, thanks a lot!

The guest cottages are in D block - numbers 76 to 89. We have only ever managed to get a booking in one of these once, and it was really nice!

We had one that has a double bed and single bed in one room and three single beds in the other room. Can't remember the number, but think it was 78. It was fairly secluded from the cottages on either side of us.

They could very well be in the D Circle.

We have had a BD3E the last 2 years, also in the D circle, #'s 81 to 84, being a 3 sleeper with a enclosed veranda.
and that circle also has the luxury units.

Hi LL, The G bungalows have the best view in Satara (in my humble opinion). I know some of the G bungalows have already been renovated but I am not sure if all of them have been renovated.
Its a long time ago I stayed in the G half-circle as I am now a camper but I did notice renovations taking place on some of the G bungalows during my nightly walks when I stayed at Satara in January / March this year.

When I was in Satara last May I saw the Honey Badgers (two of them) on two out of the three nights of our stay. The first night I saw them at 22:00 and the second night at 19:30. The night that I didn't see them I heard them throwing over bins at 03:00am the other night but was too tired to get up to have a look. We stayed in A-circle but I'm sure that the Honey Badgers visit all the circles.

Riaan, we saw one HB during July 2010 in B circle doing its dustbin rounds. This was at approximately 19:00:

Spotted 2 HB's in block C last week July. 2 nights in arrow between 19h00 and 21h00.

When we were there in August in B circle, I had a visit at 04:30 while I was having my coffee before setting off on the morning walk. It had clearly been around for a while as the bins had already been trashed! We had a visit at Tamboti too!

Saw one last week in the G Circle right next to our bungalow!!!!by the dutsbin, i will tell about it in my TR!!!

We saw this one at about 20:00 in March last year - we stayed in a family chalet in the western part of Satara camp. It wasn't bothered by the flash at all and continued eating the remains of our braai even though we were only two metres away ( inside our bungalow ) It seemed very relaxed , but I'm sure its mood could change very quickly if you got too close !!

We were there mid-August in Unit 163 in G circle. One evening I thought a neighbour had fallen over the dustbin - only to see that a Honey Badger had turned it over and was investigating the contents. He made off with the plastic bag from our ribs, and enjoyed the remains of the delicious sauce!!

There is actually 2 of them. Saw both 5:45am in April 2010 B Circle. I followed then to the next circle for some photos that didn’t come out good.
