The rules governing photography within SANparks property seem to have spilled over into the amateur photographers ' world. No income is derived from a happy-snapper's visit to a park. I live in CT and frequent the Tokai Arboretum, just along the path of the WCape SANParks offices. I and a few friends have been approached on a few occasions by the personnel at the gate to say that we require permits to take photos in the Arboretum - this just is not the case. SANParks is concerned with Commercial shoots not amateurs. If we had walked in with cellphones or a compact camera in our pockets SANParks would be none the wiser, but because we have professional-looking equipment we are singled out. Please clear up this situation as it is causing a great deal of angst among photographers. Many photo social networks are full of acoounts of this and it just does not do SAMParks any good staying mum on the matter. We are not professionals on a commercial shoot we want to take pictures of flowers, trees, msihrooms, the landscape, that's all.
