 Post subject: Snakes: Western Natal Green Snake

Another snake from our garden that did not make it... (But we are seeing the smaller one every second or third day tanning on the garden wall...definately lives there)

Natal green snake (western or eastern?) or young green mamba? Length probably 700mm. (did not get all the pieces again.)

The photos ain't all that great unfortunately. I could be wrong, but the big dark eye more suggests boomslang to me.

I have seen the green snake and green mamba with more of a yellowish coulouring in the eye.

Where did you see this?

The photos I posted, were taken in our garden: On KwaZulu Natal South Coast.

I tried to enlarge the eye....know the photo is not great, but might help in identifying this snake - Looks like a yellowish circle in the eye to me:

The shape of the head and the turqoise colour on the body suggest that it is the Western Natal Green Snake and not a mamba nor a boomslang. :wink:
