Snake or Skink ???

Unread postby jetjennings » Fri Apr 16, 2010 9:33 am

Hi all,
We came across the perculiar looking snake\skink on Tuesday this week (13th Apr) crossing the road in the Skukuza camp.
Please could somebody advise as we have no idea what it actually is ?
I did move in the same manner as a snake, slithering in the s like movement.
Many thanks
Jet

I think this is one of the 'blind snakes' that normally burrow underground much like moles do. Their preferred food consists of termites, their eggs and other invertibrates. They are totally harmless to man.
