Back from the best place on earth(KNP)

Sightings where ok, due to overgrown veg, but everything looks great. Saw this little guy on the Phalaborwa-Letaba sand road on the 1st May.Not great with my snake id's except the real bad boys like the Rinkhals. If someone could please assist.

Hi brave_crazy

Your photo is a bit small, but I saved it to my computer and it seems to be a Vine Snake….looks like a nice big one.

I posted a photo of one here. Mine was still a baby.

Nice sighting! :D

At the longweekend of 1 May, while looking after my children swimming at the pool near the camping area at Skukuza, a Vine snake caught an agama. A lady looking after some other children, sitting on a bench, was shocked as the snake caught the agama in a buffalothorn tree right above her head. For a while it was resting on a big branch...probably waiting for its venom to take effect. It then moved up to higher branches letting the agama hanging down. Slowly it started to swallow the agama. It took about half an hour...amazing stuff!!
Some pics illustrating.

Boy did you bring back ancient memories with your beautiful photos! While hiking in S. Africa years and years ago, we saw the exact same thing, vine snake catch and devour an agama. We were mesmerized the whole time! Will post a couple poor photos for documentation, but really appreciate your jogging our memory, and even more, for your wonderful photography. (Will we see more of it sometime soon?)
