Hi there

I am planning a trip on the Kruger Olifants River Trail

What is the best shoe to use - do I need a hiking boot or will a good pair of takkies do the trick?

Hi and welcome to the forums, zee_m.

Some useful information from here onwards.
You might find all the info in the Wilderness Trails - FAQ interesting.

I recommend proper hiking boots. Always best for a trail like this where you have to make a certain distance each day. You may also like to have something like crocs to use for river crossings......the river bed can be very stony under-foot.

Have you read the gate leaflet? Do you KNOW the regulations?

Completed over 5 years in Kruger in my caravan.

You may also do some boulder scrambling depending on the height of the river (some of the shortcuts across meanders are very rocky and steep).

If you get new boots, be sure to break them in by wearing and walking in them plenty before your trail
