Can one of the regular KNP visitors assist please.
Can you give me a rough indication of cost of one of the night drives.
How do you book them.
The duration of the drive and general departure time, infact any tip would be
greatfully received.

E.Orix, see here and here for some useful info on the night drives.

You can book by phoning the camp or when checking in. Availability does depend on the time of year and camp so best make the booking well in advance.

E.Orix Booking can be done by calling or simply when checking in. If you will be there for multiple days, just book them all at one time or if moving to different camps, you generally can book them from another camp. We've done morning and pm drives (sunset drives) in almost all of the KNP rest camps over the years and by far the southern 1/2 of the park has produced the best results with Lower Sabie, Satara and Skukuza reliably producing lots of predators. Time of the year is also important as you might want to miss the SA school holidays (park is full and lots of day visitors), and we have found the April to October time period (Late fall, winter, early spring) to be very good as the grass and vegetation is lower/less dense and animals are a bit more restricted to near perenial water sources. While we have done many morning and evening drives, for us, the evening drives have produced more sittings and variety than the mornings.
