Hi guys and girls

Where in Durban can i find a good place to fix a camp master 4 man tent's main door zip ? Or should i just retire the 10 year old tent and get a new one if the price will be more than 1k ....

i might as well get a new version campmaster 4 man tent from makro and it has a main door roof which you can sit under :)

The howling moon tent is still going strong ! (also roughly 10 years old now)

If you don't find a place, you could possibly do a diy using Velcro?

that could work, but what about keeping tent thieves out ? :wall: maybe put a trip wire if anyone enters, the tent self immolates LOL

i could use the zip up until the part it is broken then just velcro the rest and then just move any small valuables to the car or other tent that has locks. Will have a test run and see thanks

i also like the smell of new things  !

What is wrong with the zip, Supertrooper?

Normally if a zip breaks it's just that the slider pulled off the one side of the chain. If the zip chain is still ok then you can always try and unpick the one end and replace the slider. Unpick the side where the slider would normally be if the zip is open, that's the easier side from which to slip on the new slider. The old slider might not even be damaged so you could use that again but if you do go for a new one, take the old one as a sample to make sure you get the correct size.

Get yourself a curved canvas needle and strong cotton and sew the end up by hand.
You'll need proper canvas cotton which only comes in reels but for a small job, a roll of quilting thread will do just as well.

If you need to replace the whole zip, try putting an add on Gumtree. You should get replies from there.
Else it is actually a simple task to replace it yourself with a domestic machine and a little bit of sewing skill if the canvas is not too heavy.
