Dunes, donkeys and ducks

Unread postby Meandering Mouse » Sun Mar 24, 2013 7:56 am

When I heard that the cricket this year would e in KTP, I was fairly resigned to supporting from the side lines.

My dear Trusted Beauty had needed a clutch and gearbox strip, which left the bank balance pretty stripped as well.

I have been in worse places than the side lines of a cricket match, so I thought that I could cope.

Not so :naughty:

Each time I read a thread on the cricket a little voice told me that I had to be there?

"But how?" I thought.

Trusted Beauty just could not be trusted anymore to take on the long journey. :(

I have this belief that if you commit wholeheartedly to something, things happen. Some may can it the little miracles of our daily lives.

It was with a bit of trepidation that I made an open commitment to being present at the cricket... and then wondered what my next step might be. I certainly had no inkling of a plan B.

This was one time when the sun would have to rise without my help.

The Peacock is ery wary of my dogs, sadly :(

I started to feed it regularly, but then my youngest dog Mikki nearly reduced it to supper.

Since then he has kept far away.

I have found that once a commitment and a decision has been made, that doors tend to open.

Within twelve hours of making my decision, I received a pm from Annemarie... "would I like to share her accommodation at Twee Rivieren?"

Thank you once again Annemarie, this one is for you.

Image

I was also notified about a certain "fun bus" taking people to the KTP cricket. I contacted Scipio and was told that there was always space for a rodent. Rodents, fortunately do not take up much space.

Scips and Petra, this one is for you.

Image

The kindness shown left me thoughtful. I have seen many forum moments, both good and less good. This has slowly evolved into a community with a great capacity for caring. Squabbles happen, differences of opinion happen... but ultimately when the chips are down, someone is there to ease a load and lend a hand.

Image

This then, is not only a story of cricket, it is a story of community.

Richard, I loved your pictures and the memories it brought back. I watched the Two Oceans yesterday. Tim Noakes was running in the half marathon and I thought of our conversation... far too short.

Granjan, what a pleasure to sit and chat in the welcome shade. 8) Just too, too quickly over. I am pleased that you have arrived back safely and hope to meet up again someday.
