Hello Forumites
We are going to KNP for the Easter Holidays and have an idea to raise money for SANParks.
We all seek that rare sighting and we thought why not put out a challenge and if we see one of these animals we make a donation. Forumites willing to do so pledge the same amount. In this way we collect a sum of money but it does not end there. On our return from KNP another forumite going to KNP takes over, and this is totally voluntary, and again pledges are made. So, this is a perpetual fundraiser and we have some fun along the way in seeking those rare sightings.
A photo = sighting and at the end of a trip money is collected and deposited into an account to be opened for this fundraising by the Virtual Honorary Rangers Region or a project list on this website for payment via GivenGain.
Here is the list with the amount to be donated
Lion - R10
Cheetah - R20
Leopard - R20
Wild dogs - R30
Sable Antelope - R30
Black Rhino - R30
Caracal - R40
Serval - R40
Aardwolf - R50
Aardvark - R50
Pangolin - R50
Roan Antelope - R50
African Rock Python - R50
Racket Tailed Roller - R50
Bohms’ Spinetail - R50
Honey Badger - R50
Brown Hyena - R100 (are there any in KNP????)
Pel’s Fishing Owl - R100
Yeah, I have some animals on the list (lions) that are not all that rare but the idea is to raise some funds and I do not want to set myself up for failure

We have tried to include mammals, birds and reptiles, but we can work on the list together come up with a list. Do not want too much on the list and trying to keep amounts low considering the present economic climate.
Say we see a honey badger and 9 people have pledged amounts for our trip, then we have raised R50 x 10 = R500 for the project.
We also suggest a prize for the trip that raises the most funds and for the most rare sighting - to be decided by vote.
Look forward to your genorosity and hope we can make this work.
Kind Regards
Sharifa and Duke.
