Dear forumites,

We have had 6 wonderful Cricket events at Skukuza so far.

Being aware that Kruger is remote for people living in the Cape region, we would like to offer you the opportunity to hold the next year's event (14-16 March 2013) at Kgalagadi TP... But we would like this to be your decision.

A couple of questions. 14 to 16 March makes it Thursday to Saturday, if so why the change. What are the cricket facilities? What teams would be invited. Is there enough accommodation?

Hi DavenJan,

Because it is such a long drive to get there, and most likely it will be extremely hot, it would be very tiring to hold the games in one day. Our thinking was to split the game over 2 days at least - morning sessions only.

We have not teased out the details yet - they will be the FAC's guidance/decision. At this stage what we need to know is whether to do a block booking on the entire Twee Rivieren, seeing that March 2013 bookings will soon be opened to public.

About the cricket facilities and the accommodation - the Tourism Management of Kgalagadi assured us that they will improve the state of the existing cricket field, and that there should be enough accommodation.

It will be a lot more "rustic" than Kruger - if that appeals to the forumites. The prize-giving function will be held outdoors. They have successfully hosted dinner for 200 in the past, so 120 should be doable.

Dupel/Jannie/Steven, please feel free to provide details here...

Please only vote if you seriously would consider attending next year's cricket. The number of votes will be used to gauge attendance if the vote goes KTP way.

If the vote go to Kgalagadi and the mites from Gauteng have difficulty getting there with small vehicles, we could always try to rent a bus to take us all there and share those costs? This is a lot to think about as there is always options :hmz:

One important factor to consider imo is the lack of affordable accommodation at KTP
Kruger (the south) has many cheap options.

What if you have a fear of sand? Or more particularly a fear for the scorpions that live on sand? :hmz:

Minor things to be fearful of Weltenman  Having a fear of a serious cricket injury ... now that is a real concern
