Their pain, our gain. A gift of love.

Unread postby Meandering Mouse » Sat Nov 19, 2011 6:53 am

I received a message from a collegue. He was going to be riding in the 94.7 cycle race tomorrow. He was using this to support funds against Rhino poaching.

It got me thinking :hmz:
and then  an idea.

Endurance sports is not only what happens on the day, it takes months of training, displine and dedication. I always take my hat off to those who get to the starting line.

My daughter, Explorer, will be riding on Sunday. I am going to donate R1 per km towards our new cam. I think that the cam will draw more interest from a wider audience and add value to the forum.

There are many major races in South Africa through the year. I will donate R2/km for every major running race that my family participates in.

So far that will be the Two Oceans half marathon:
Explorer
Noname
Sarabi

I'll do the sums later.

I will also donate R1/km for any major cycle race.
That might be:
Noname
Explorer
for the Cape Argus.

I am challenging fellow mites to do the same. It gives our loved one's efforts focused purpose. It also benefits conservation through Sanparks forum.

MM, now that should be a sight for sore eyes and is worth at least R10 per km!

Unfortunately I don't own a bicycle...maybe I should do the trip with my wheelbarrow! 8) :slap:

Just to let you know that my daughter did finish the 94.7 cycle race. I decided to round it off and make it R100 towards the cam.
