I will be leaving on the Thursday 4th October 2012, heading up to KTP for 2 weeks.

Last year I was a courier for this drive, so if any Mites have any clothing donations and would like someone to get them there, please let me know and I will make a plan to get your donations.

Thanks so much for the offers to bring up much needed clothes. I have send up about 6 bags of clothes to one of the communities on the Botswana side which is really in need of any clothing. As soon as the person who went to deliver the clothes returns I will post some pictures.

The VHRs are putting together a report on all the wonderful work done by the SANParks forum members, and would love to (must) include this so that more folk out there can see this fantastic effort.

As per the post by a forum moderator on 30 Dec 2011, here, all forum projects need to be placed in the SANParks VHR Wild Projects forum. This topic will be moved there shortly. A shadow will be left for two weeks, and a locked topic where links to projects that affect the Arid Parks will be kept in this forum. If you wish to add a link to the topic, please PM Dotty, or one of the moderators.

I think mites who trawl the Arid Parks forum topics (or any other specific forum topic) do not go near any other forum topics....(i.e. SANParks VHR Wild Projects forum (hidden in The Members Lounge), Meets & Greets, etc)

.....is this not the audience these topics are trying to reach...?

I would like to see any topic focussed on a specific forum (i.e. Cape Parks, Kruger National Park, Arid Parks, etc.) on that particular Board Index>> National Park Cluster topic.

Can the moderators not keep threads in their focussed National Park Clusters, IF they are specific to that Cluster (i.e. Clothing drive for local KTP communites, Christmas Drive, etc.)? It is obvious these are specific to Arid Parks.

yuuup you're right I only look at the Arid threads......
that's how I often miss the meets and greets for example and for sure I would miss this clothing drive or christmas presents or tsammaland re opening (and the smiling children)

You do bring up some valid points, but there is more to consider. In some park specific forums, there is very little 'traffic' so such projects will get very little focus. In others, such as the Kruger forum, where a forum page fills in a few days, topics drop down and can get lost very quickly. The forum needs to be managed consistently.

We also need to be mindful of why people visit certain forums - to find info and discuss their park visits. Projects are a separate issue.

Ideally the various projects should be visible to all the forum members, not just those who visit a specific forum. The advantage of this is also more exposure for the project. For example, the Kruger forum is the most visited and busy forum in the parks clusters, having that amount of people also seeing projects for other regions can only be a bonus to the project, rather than restricting the project to a certain regional forum.

The answer lies in promoting the project - in a careful way to ensure it is seen by all visitors to the forums, but not to spam visitors.

Aunti Deebee, methinks these avid Arid readers should widen their horisons a bit and explore the unknown of ....(Drumroll)............THE REST OF THE FORUM

Ok so be it. Majority rules
I'm checking the forum at arid, cape and frontier parks. Though my horison is endless I am not interested in the other topics. And if you can't 'talk' about tsammaland or whatever project concerning KTP on the aric park I'll miss it and probably some others too. Don't know if that is in the interest of the less fortunate people, but rules are rules and even if we don't like them we'll stick to it.
