This is a great idea.

What the VHRs will do in the meantime is write to the powers that be at Kruger and see how they receive the idea as they need to approve all posters that are put up in the Park. I will cc you and your manager in on the mail EJ.

How about aiming really high? How about one in every unit of accommodation in the park?

And have you thought about sponsorship to cover some of the costs? Maybe Total or Sasol or Sappi, just a little logo at the bottom of the sheet?

While there is no real limit to what can be on a graphics level on the printing itself we have two main choices.
1) Printing on High Resolution paper and then laminating
This is the most costly method and while it offers a very high quality it has the drawback of being sensitive to light. It is mainly used for photographs and for a total protection costs go well beyond acceptable levels with posters loosing colour after 2 to 4 years.

2) Offset printing
A lot cheaper, gives brilliant colours and laminating is not needed. Costs are contained within acceptable limits and with unlimited lifespan.
The main difference is on the weight of the paper. In the first case you have a very thick, up to 400-450 gr poster while offset printing you'll get anything between 120 and 180 gr. The lighter the cheaper.

Most print, posters etc, are done using the offset system and considering the kind of poster and numbers needed it would be the best choice.

I have had a look at the market prices and would willing cover the costs of graphics and printing of anything between 50 and 100 offset posters 50 x 70 cm.
Biggest problems woould be
1) getting them to the VHR HQ
2) Distribution in all camps

EJ, can you give me an idea of approx number of posters needed?

Small prints:
A3 (29,7 cm x 42 cm) size prints would be the best size and printing would be easly done at acceptable costs.
Again transport, paper weighs a lot!, would be the main problem to see to.

The reason I suggested laminating is that I have seen what happens to posters with pictures on......the pictures quickly get torn off!
