Imberbe has a point…suppose Afrikaans will be easier to read for most of them…but I’m also sure they will make use of English books if there is nothing else.

I for one have often taken magazines up to KTP for the tourist assistants. The mags are always greatly appreciated...and all have been in English. I have also picked up the local newspapers on the way up to the park and those are also greatly appreciated.

I am off to KTP in Dec..with a trailer.......so if there are any books from Cape Town that need a ride..please give me a shout....

The assistant at Grootkolk this last visit (Eric was on leave) was so desperate for anything to read that he was more than happy to read one of my daughters girlie magazines!!
Caracal, maybe you could add to bring a book along in the info you send out for CT Christmas meet next week

my daughter and I are going up 24 January for 10 days (hooray) and I would be happy to collect a load from Capetonians willing to donate books - I will be at Twee R, KTC, Nossob and Grootkolk

Many thanks to you, Dreamer, Caracal, joshilewis, arks, Micetta ad all the others for your willingness to help out with this.

I do however think we need to engage somebody from the park itself to help us plan this…and I’m calling on the Mods to help out here. Is there somebody who will be able to put structure to this whole idea and make it workable in the park? The where’s and who’s?
And BTW…we now have 3 Capetonians willing to help….am I the only Gautie who visits this park?….if so, I suppose this will be an excuse to make another trip to the Kgalagadi ...and what about the Eastern Cape crowd or the Durbanites?

Another Gautie signing up for duty.....but the unfort thing is i don't have a clear date when we will be heading back to KTP....which doesn't help. There is a possibility we may be heading that way in Sept - Urikaruus and Kieliekrankie on the agenda, but will only know mid next year.....but certainly willing and able to carry some books up!

I'd think the person to contact about this might be our KTP guru, Andre, altho he is unfortunately not able to participate directly on the forum these days But perhaps Dotty can alert him to this idea?

And am I the only overseas member supporting this initiative, or am I being counted as a Capie these days?

I am sure the camp attendants would be more than happy with such a library.

As I am a bookworm too I would be more than willing to give what I have read the only problem is that my books are in German so this will definitely not help but whenever something in English is coming up I will store and bring it to the KTP.

Could someone ask these men what they would like to read the next time they go through these camps?(We just might be surprised!)
