Joekin, yes, some forum members did want to do a walk through the park. The idea was not "shot down" - we have all the correspondance on record and here, for eg, is one reply received from Kruger:

A walk through the park is not something that has ever been allowed to happen in the park for obvious reasons.
At least two alternatives were offered to the guys; one by the Kruger people and HRs called Benefits Beyond Boundaries which would have entailed a walk outside the park along the western boundary and meant good PR with the communities living long side the park, and the other suggestion was to walk from Kruger to Mapungbwe. If the guys had shown interest in either of these, I agree a lot of publicity and funds would have been generated
