Lovely pages .... :D
I think a scrapbook is a great way of displaying photos.....so much more interesting than just putting them in a photo album.

Hello forumites! I’m working on ideas for my South Africa/Kruger scrapbook and I need your ideas and advice. I’m not a serious scrapbooker, but I’ve done some off and on.

I’ve been to Kruger twice before, and I’m booked to be there in November. I’d like to have some ideas before I go because I’m from the U.S., and this will likely be my last trip for a while, so if I don’t get something while I’m there I’m out of luck. I’d like to truly capture Kruger with that little extra something to make my scrapbook unique and not just pictures and paper. What unusual/different materials have you used to give your pages more texture, interest, etc? For example, one of the things I look forward to most about being in South Africa is guava juice, so I’m planning on bringing back a juice label. What has worked well? What doesn’t? Where do you purchase your supplies? Some of the stores in my area carry some safari paper and some stickers, but what about embellishments? Where do you get yours? Can you get them online?

Also, what have you taken pictures of (outside of animals) that have given your pages more interest?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Morning Trigger

In April this year we visited Namibia for 3 weeks and at the onset I decided that I was going to scrapbook the entire holiday. Quite a mammoth task. We visited so many places and experienced so many exciting things that I am sure that I am going to end up with at least 2 very full albums.
Because I had decided to do this album beforehand I took many photos of things that I would not normally photograph ie.....signposts, place names, etc. I have used this photos a lot on my pages. I also collected brochures, receipts, entry tickets etc. Again these bits and bobs can add a lot of interest to a page...like your guava juice label. :D
One thing I fell short on were the people pics. Seeing that my hubby and I were traveling solo it was a bit difficult to get photos of the two of us unless I set the camera up on a tripod which I did do but not often enough.
As regards embellishments..well that is a bit difficult with safari pages but if you keep your eyes open you can find a few things. While in Namibia I often found stickers ( the license disc ones) as well as other goodies...eg a tiny beaded flag of Namibia. I think in the Kruger shops there are a few round flat coin like goodies with names of the camps on...look out for those. Also keep yout small SA coins...perfect embellishments...:) Also look out for postage stamps. Sometimes one can buy packets of used stamps in the shops.
I hope this has helped a bit..... :D
