Location: Red sand, why do I keep thinking of red sand?
A spider in Vanderbylpark, any guesses (or certains) about it?

It looks like a Rain Spider.

Big and impressive, but rather harmless. The bite will burn slightly and itch for a day or two, but will leave no lasting damage.

Active hunters at night, often attracted to light sources in pursuit of the insects that surrounds it. Males and females are of the same size ... not the norm in spiders.

I used my little close-up lens for that, the Canon 500D. It's not as good as a real macro one, but way cheaper and very handy to bring along.
It's almost like a filter, screws in front of your camera, in my case the 100-400. And @400 mm that gives you quite a lot of space to work in!
