#WeatherALERT! The southern part of #Kruger rivers are swelling fast especially the perennial ones due to some heavy pours since 2h00 am. We urge visitors to be careful on dirt roads as most low level bridges are highly over flown. Roads such as S137, H5, S28 are not fully accessible due to flooding. Some are still accessible but not recommended for small & none 4x4 vehicles due to slippery & high water dams on dirt roads.

Michelle Van Der Merwe : Balule is still fine for the moment. Tourist can not enter or exit due to the bad road conditions. We are monitoring the situation closely and will evacuate if need be.

I believe that there are quite a lot of road closures including at one stage Croc bridge causeway. Is it possible for this to be ascertained for those of us who are visiting the Park soon.

Penny,

We try to put up notices about long-term road closures because of damage caused by floods.

Getting up-to-date information when the roads are temporarily closed because of rain is a bit more difficult because the situation can change on an hourly basis. I recall that signs do go up on the N4 if the entry gates are closed.

We will ask for information to be given here and we'll post if we receive anything.

All dirt roads were closed yesterday between Phala Gate and Letaba, however the level of the letaba river was still quite low.

Shingwedzi river has risen quickly. The tzenze at Mopani also flowing bank to bank. A number of roads closed including Red Rocks and Shongololo. Really hoping that the rain will ease off now. I've been here since Boxing Day and its rained everyday for hours.

Currently at Orpen so I will try to submit a few road reports where there is something significant. The weather is very overcast again this morning. Hopefully expecting some sunshine this afternoon though.

Gravel roads closed down here at present.....we used S114 on the way to walking area this morning and it was very muddy and slippery in areas and barely passable. Take care out there, and if a road is closed don't try to use it!

Nunu and Crested Val. Thanks for the updates.
Do let us know when the dirt roads start getting re-opened (curious to know how long they tend to shut down for after persistent rains).

Most of all, stay safe.

Dear All,

Here in Shingwedzi only light rain overnight, but am informed northwards rainfall was quite heavy. Shingwedzi flowing nicely and the Mphongolo has also started flowing nicely. Gravel roads open except in placed where there are causeways over the Shingwedzi. Weather currently overcast but dry.

Kind regards.

JOEP

Roads around orpen and Satara all looking much better, we have had two sunny days and most are passable now. I had to turn around on the timbavati today though and return to camp because of a causeway that was still flooded and too muddy. It's going to be another hot day so I expect that will also have dried out sufficiently by tomorrow.

At Shing last night...........will do a proper update when home on Friday, but the river level is lowish - flowing in places, dry in others.

The causeway at the back of the park is completely closed as part of it has washed away. I don't think it will be open for a good while.!!!!!

Shing camp looking good!!!!
