Though a very good reason for that. Some folks are so passionate
about "their Kruger" that they even hate to see the gates open in the
morning, to let the masses in! Some people are so obsessed that even
the slightest change means catastrophy in their lives!! They believe that
Kruger and especially "their Kruger" needs to be seen and experienced
the way they did and therefore needs to be as pristine as possible.

I can very well understand that change is a integral part of life and needs
to be so!!! To dwell in the past for what ever reason not always good,

What you are describing in bold is an attitude that runs against what Kruger should be about. We complain about rude behaviour, speeding and not following the rules, basically not respecting others and nature. What you have written in bold is not respecting anything other than "myself" and that is a little sad if that is why people are so against new initiatives in SANParks and Kruger.

can.

"Change", possibly the best medcine any human can have, yet

we are still in touch with the past, for what little there is left of that,
where the medcine for goodness in life was concocted in the first place.

So, quite simple, let not the evil of commercialization stifle the pureness
of being!!!

I don't know how you can protect an area and keep it untouched. Kruger is not untouched. The fact that we have hundreds of kilometres of roads for visitors (you, me and everyone else) is one of the reasons it is not untouched.

I think the "evil of commercialization" actually goes a long way to paying for what we all love, the protection of all of our National Parks.

I was talking to our waiter at Letaba yesterday, and he said that the current staff have all been told that their jobs are safe when the new Franchise takes over, and that they will go for training, while the restaurant is closed for renovations. he seemed very positive about the changes, and is looking forward to Mugg & Bean arriving.

Nice to hear that the staff member you spoke to was so positive about the changes Val, and that they will go for proper training, good start having a positive attitude

we had breakfast at Letaba today, good quality, value for money and service with a smile. Good to see they are keeping up standards in the interim period.

That's very encouraging Val, given that the service and nondescript offerings at Letaba have been less than dazzling over the last few years, Here's hoping the same positive attitude prevails in Satara, amongst others.

Hi Everyone.

I was just skimming through the forums and the concept that Mugg & Bean is coming to Kruger really got me excited as I love their White Hot Chocolate, and having that in Kruger would have been even more awesome.

My excitement soon vanished when I found out that they were not opening in Punda Maria and Shingwedzi. What is the reason for this? if someone could please answer this.

Am sure it has to do with making the numbers work.

Just guessing Kallis and IMO but just a possibility no one tendered for those camps.
Shingwedzi would have been still in the reconstruction phase and PM being such a small camp and so far north with limited turn over, so possibly didn't attract attention.

Dear forumites,
:D
We'll stay at Lower Sabie on 6 and 7 February :D and the restaurant will be closed then. It's a pity that a bush braai that we booked has been cancelled :(
What I'd like to know is whether the shop in Lower Sabie has sufficient provisions, especially fresh meat and vegetables during this period? I guess there will be many more visitors that will have to prepare their meals themselves. Anybody been there recently?
Thanks

Lucbo,

The shop in LS is a large well stocked one and you will find lots to eat there.

There should be vegetables and frozen meat, but how fresh is anyone's guess.

If you have to, you could resort to tinned food.

But I am pretty sure you will get what you want.

Dear all,

does someone know about the restaurants in the camps Shíngwedzi and Punda Maria for the future.
I have booked both camps for Nov. and prebooked for February 15.
The quality of the restaurant in Shingwedzi was always good even in the last years, I think the very good management of the camp will find a solution.
But it would be interesting to know more about the plans.

Greertings, Brigitte

How do you "prebook" for Feb 2015. Would be very interested.
