Ah yes, I'd forgotten about the Greek salad.

And before anyone thinks I'm complaining, SO has just as tough a time in the UK and Europe, even in the big cities.

Hi Carol, our Mugg & bean menu at Satara last month, was exactly the same menu as all M & B's we've been to in C Town Joburg etc. Plenty of veggie options, and I'm quite sure wraps and sarnies that have meat could be substituted if asked.

The manager was really on the ball, and wanting to please!!!

Just sorry that we will miss you, as we are going to be grandparents, and will not be doing our usual 6 month stay this next time!!!

seems ages since we shared a lunch at Lower Sabie last year!!!!

I'm sure that you will have a wonderful time. :k

I am glad to read so many good reviews of the new restaurants, I do hope that this will continue and wont just be for the new starting period of the restaurants. I do feel that the more positive reviews there are and more positive experiences will mean that more visitors will try out the new restaurants and this will lead to more experience for the staff and more experience will lead to a better experience for the visitor. Let's hope this will continue!

The staff and especially the supervisors at the Mug&Bean restaurants have been very well trained,We were attended too immediately we arrived and found them very alert to when you look around for them to come and help you with anything extra you may want. I found them very professional and helpful, it was a very pleasant experience to dine there

Just spent a couple nights in Satara and found the Mugg and Bean far superior in every way to the previous restaurants. Debonaires was also fine and more than acceptable.

Having dined at Skukuza the first night I was very disappointed in that restaurant and was even more shocked that the bill was far more than MandB the next couple nights.

As far as I am concerned the new restaurants cannot replace the old ones fast enough and have made me not dread dinner anymore as now there is selection and better service.

As a matter of interest - what restaurant facilities are at Skukuza at the moment? We are staying there two nights next week and will need to make use of them. After that definitely looking forward to trying out M&B a number of times at Satara & LS

Had a wonderful meal at Lower Sabie yesterday, great service and variety.
Will be going up to Skukuza in the next day or so and will check out what is currently available.

Skukuza still have the old restaurant and take away.
They are starting the restaurant renovations after the school holidays.

Visited Skukuza yesterday and spoke to one of the restaurant staff who didn't know when the new conversions would be starting.
Both the main restaurant and the wooden Banana are still operating as before..
Old Selati still not operational and looking most derelect inside..

ctm7943 - I think Oumie and Elsa will give you a more detailed answer.

From what I know, the Wooden Banana is an open air cafeteria, serving burgers, pies, breakfasts, toasties, take aways, tea, coffee, beer and wine, scones, cake etc. It is very popular and not far from the river bank. There are tables near the river bank too.

The other traditional "old" restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and supper - buffet style (Oumie and Elsa?).

The "old" Selati-restaurant is an old dining car of a train that used to travel to Skukuza in the past - this restaurant is situated more to the east of the camp. But it was taken over by a private franchise and then closed and according to Elsa, not operational as yet.

If the restaurants will be operational during renovations? - maybe you can phone the camp and ask.

But you will enjoy Skukuza - it is a busy camp, but a lovely camp with big trees and a wonderful museum not to miss - with lots of wonderful game viewing around camp. Do not miss Lake Panic.

Thanks Leanaweld,
So, it appears that the Main (buffet) restaurant & the Banana are still open.
Too bad about the Selati, we were looking forward to eating there.
