We have a booking for 2 nights (long weekend only) end November in Berg en Dal in a FA6 unit. Since reading about all the roadworks on the N4 in the gorge casuing delays on the way to Malelane, we have decided to rather go in at Phabeni. Now I am thinking of changing our booking to Skukuza (probably 2 BE3's). Should I or shouldn't I?

Berg en Dal pros:
Nice camp and nice bungalow
Bigger chance to see leopard and wild dog?

Berg en Dal cons:
Limited road choice
Long term weather forecast looks like more rain further south in Kruger for that weekend

Skukuza pros:
Bigger choice of roads
Lake Panic close by which we have never seen since its been a very long time since we last stayed in Skukuza
Better weather?

Skukuza cons:
Large camp and bungalows not so nice

Would like to hear your opinion on my list of pros and cons?

(But in the end I am just happy to go to Kruger for the second time this year on an impromptu visit!)

Hi Lizes,

In my opinion I would rather go with Berg en dal, much better camp than Skukuza.

Skukuza is not a very nice camp, it's like a town down there.

I think you should go for Berg en dal.

Thanks for your replies! We have decided to stick with Berg en Dal. To all of you who will be in the park in December, enjoy and good sightings!

All my reservations are in place, but of course I am having second thoughts :wall:
I am trying to stay at all the camps in the park eventually
Biyamiti was open so I grabbed 3 nights there instead of 3 nights in LS
Is that the right thing?
I haven't stayed at Biyamiti so have no context...
5/8 Satara
5/9 Skukuza
5/10 Biyamiti
5/11 Biyamiti
5/12 Lower Sabie
5/13 Biyamiti
5/18-5/21 Mpila Camp

Hi,

Biyamiti is a lovely camp, very quiet and peaceful unlike the main camps in the Kruger. There is lots of game around there also.

You will love Biyamiti! We stayed there in July for the first time, and it was wonderful! We vowed to come back in summer one day, when the river would be fuller and everything green. Sadly we only have two nights in Kruger this coming weekend in Berg en Dal, but we definitely will pay a visit to the lovely spot at the weir over the Biyamiti river. Enjoy!

Lovely camp is Biyamiti, with excellent and diverse game prospects around there.

For sure.

It is in a game rich area where leopard and the 'darker' unspeakables are often found.
