Great stuff steamtrainfan.

That is what keeps us going to Kruger isn't it? Not just to ogle the so called big 5, but to see some action.

Pity that somethng has to lose its life, but that is how things are sustained there.

Great but gruesome sighting.

Hi Steamtrainfan, great to hear from you again.
While I am not fond if kills, this must have been an amazing experience!

God bless,

Hi Friedrich. I agree it not being a pleasant experience but then again it was a once in a lifetime sighting.

steamtrainfan, it must have been quite an amazing experience.
I can just imagine the adrenalin and the emotions going wild. :hmz:

How you managed to keep the camera focussed is amazing - I would have shaken all the time.

Thank you for sharing.

Like everybody else has said .... incredible sighting and well captured.
No one likes to see an animal taken out, but I suppose that's what keeps the park going.

You haven't been on the forum for quite some time ... nice to see you back.
Are you still involved in the steam train journeys from Pretoria?

We spent 15 days in the Kruger during the June/July holidays & were fortunate enough to see a similar incident at Transport Dam. We missed the initial attack by seconds but watched the croc drown the impala & eat it. One of the most amazing wildlife encounters we have ever had & one I will never forget. Amazing & horrific all in one.
