Tough rules... . Evenso I can understand the actions taken, its for not very amusing. I really enjoy sittimg on the waterhole with a beer, but I make always sure that I´m not drunk. Anyway If People mislead the rules then harder restricktions have to be done. Freedom will end there where the freedom from other Persons will be damaged. Ok I´ll write it down  Thanks for the information.

Ag, there is always someone that goes too far I guess. I will definitely be having my glass of red @ our riverview chalet @ Olifants in June. I really can't wait:):)

The Problem I see us the grey zone. e.G the Riverbed Chalets in Olifants. If you are sitzing on the Stub but having a view on the River is in my oppinion a grey zone... . Anway Rules are there if you unsure you have to inform yourself. End of Story.

The river view bungalows at Olifants or any camp would be fine as you are allowed to drink alcohol at your accommodation!

That's drawing a long bow. You are either at your accommodation ie the chalet (regardless of what view you have or do not have) or you are not. No grey area at all.

I found in the past that if I had a beer or two and then sat at a water hole I would doze off and miss all the great sights that came to drink the water. :hmz: :hmz: .

Totally agree with the regulation and its a pity that a restriction cannot be put on some people who sit at their campsites at night get trashed and make one ell of a noise. It upsets Captain Morgan and I whilst we are flat on our backs watching the stars go by.

... best advice and golden rule is this I think - even when enjoying a sundowner at the privacy of your accommodation which is in order:

The problem with drinking is the people that disturb (become hooligans) are the people that don't "know" they do it. As anybody that has ever tried taking car keys from a drunk will know they never think they are drunk, they don't think they are noise.... they don't know whats wrong with singing "O ryperd" at the top of our lungs at 1am.

We have camped 500m away from a group that was drinking at they accomadation that was so loud we couldn't sleep or enjoy the scenery.

The line is black and white but it's very fine.

I always take along my CD of the pipes & drums of the Black Watch just in case I need to play it before I leave to get to the gate in the morning......

Well you are correkt, alcohol is always an Issue. With grey Zone i mean, If you are on the Chalet and then you will walk with you beer Can directly to the river. But these are only a few meters away, where will the drinking Area end and where does it start. Even more difficult is the Situation in the Resturant. But well if you don´t see it as a grey line everything will be fine. This Rule, does it only belong to Kruger or also to other SANP? The infos I found are based on the Kruger Park.

Best Regards
Malealea

It is a general rule that you are not allowed to drink in public in SA. I think they have had to clamp down because of some peoples bad behaviour so drinks @ the pool, river will not be allowed. The Restaurants can serve drinks because they have a licence. Sure the fresh air will have us sleeping early anyway. so we can be first out of the gate in the morning:):)

BB I will listen to your Black Watch any morning if I don't have to listen to Ryperd, "one finger on the botton" or "gee haar 'n roos" at night. :w:

Just the thought of hearing all these songs and whining pipes and drums in Kruger gives me the shivers. Eeeeek :| .

Bethmary I hope you will have a good time in Kruger and that you will enjoy your upcoming visit. I am sure that “Old Ryperd” will not feature anywhere and that no Black Watch will be played :)
