Good work to the traffic officer involved. More of the same please.

When we were last in KNP we were breakfasting at a picnic site when a couple with little kids and grandparents in tow set up the skottel and promptly handed round the beers and cider to the four adults at 8.30a.m.

The attendant didn't do anything. I think it was a bit difficult - a lot of people were there and he probably didn't want to cause a scene. :?

Thank you Sanparks    . I am glad that this particular rule is in place and that it is applied. Crested Val has mentioned something very bad indeed that they have experienced in Kruger, which is a flagship National Park of South Africa. Unfortunately we have experienced similar, also in Letaba. There should be no tolerance for transgression of this rule or any other rule of the Park. Keep this rule in place and apply it strictly please Sanparks. It is better and absolute necessary for the greater good.

Great.

I remember the Christmas periods 1996 and 1997 at Mopani Rest Camp.

The day visitors area was like a dumping site for trash (mainly empty beer bottles and cans) every morning after the very noisy cajoling of the previous day.

Sorry to say but as a regular visitor to Kruger i have witnessed day visitors in restaurants that sit and have a few to many and then speed out. I hope something will be done about that as well

Note to self: Next time you enjoy a beer as a day visitor, chuck the can as far into the bush as you can before getting to camp.

Nice to hear that somebody was nailed.

Now for smokers! Read the permit!

Don't drink a drive you might spill some.

I have seen it as well.

I'm also sure that the SANPark staff is also not stupid there is a difference between a Beer can laying in the back of a car for months (bad house keeping but not drinking in the park) and having a bus full of crazy drunks singing and shouting trying to tell you: " no officer 'hig' we haven't had a drop 'hig' this is a church group 'hig'."

I did have a case of being warned about drinking and driving (not in a park in JHB) while I was drinking a non alcaholic beer, should have left it till after I saw his face when he reads the "breath test"

I saw a few people drinking while driving around, but not as much as I would have expected. We saw no alcohol at the picnic sites. :)

I forgot that I could have a beer at the restaurants, causing some staff confusion when a gray bearded American was seemingly asking permission to enjoy a Black Label with lunch. ;)

Some people do manage to get alcohol past the gate guards, and yes, these people are seen drinking in the public places..........but it doesn't happen that often thank goodness.

Kruger is a much nicer place to visit with the alcohol rules IMHO.

unfortunaly I couldn´t read the Screenshot well. Is it possibel that you can uploaded again?

I do have certain questions.

Firstly: Some Camps do have Waterhole, So I´m not allowed to drink a Sundowner ath the waterwhole???

secondly: I can remember that in earlier times, during a nightdrive break, to drink a Sundowner or Beer. Is that forbidden either????

thirdley: About Smoking which kinds of rules and regulation exist?

Best regards

Correct

The break was in the control of the guide and was so that people could have a break for a smoke. I can't remember what the rules on alcohol on a guided drive are but I imagine the new rules cover the drives as well.

You can smoke in your car, at designated spots in restaurants and rest camps and outside your accommodation. Smoking inside is forbidden.

Just for the record....no alcohol allowed on game drives either. Cold boxes will be checked, and I heard recently of someone who still took some alcohol along.....and the guide radio'd back to the camp and the guest was collected from the vehicle and taken back to camp.
