My understanding is that the "new" camp will be the old TEBA camp, albeit refurbished an operated by SANParks.

Morning all :hello:

Johanrebel is right. There is no new camp planned for Crookes Corner. What we are busy with is the planned renovation and upgrade of the old TEBA facilities close to the Pafuri Border post that will become part of our Tourism accommodation inventory. Added to this we are also planning to provide for a Rustic camping site in the Pafuri area on a site to be determined by an EIA process.

At least there is some light in that a rustic camp is planned .
Will the TEBA camp upgrade be an upmarket set up ?

Music to my ears.
I submitted a proposal to SANParks a while back for the creation of rustic "low impact" camping sites for 6 persons max.
Lets hope we see more like this and less Malelane/Skukuza 'creations' (for lack of a better word).

The roadside less than 200m north of the Levuhvu bridge - the "tree looking" object is actually a gabion (wire net containing stones) which appeared to have been rolled up by the water flow which was more or less perpindicular to the road direction .

Thanks for the photos Johan

So sad to see beautiful Pafuri Camp reduced to rubble / debris.

All pic taken early March, by the way. With apologies for the cell phone camera quality.

The floods have resulted in an eruption of flowering Thorn Apple (Datura stramonium. malpitte in Afrikaans). Not only along the rivers and floodplains as usual, but all over the place. Worse, I also saw Camphor Bush (Tarchonanthus camphoratus) here and there.

What once was the access road to Crooks' Corner (Makuleke side)

OK, so they are pretty!
