Thank you SANParks!
WHAT a relief................pensioners discounts have suddenly appeared for 2014 (under Travel/Tariffs)
You guys have given some of us oldies a mild heart attack but thanks for putting them on - now we can start dreaming of next year's trip. Hey, hold on a sec, we haven't done this year's trip yet - or have we?
Memory's definitely going

PENSIONERS DISCOUNT

Unread postby porcubine » Thu Apr 18, 2013 1:14 am

Please can someone help - we used to go to the park out of holiday season and get a pensioners discount - now they say that there are only ccertain times and at certain camps that this applies to. What is the story regarding pensioners discount in the park at any camp. :wall:

It happened to me at Skukuza that they did not see the little one-liner about camping, which states that ALL CAMPING is 40% cheaper for over sixties in ALL the camps. They just read the lower ACCOMMODATION part and did not see the CAMPING right at the top of the notice. And that the Manager of Skukuza. Eish.

Pensioner's discounts are becoming less and less available , and especially so in Kruger :x
I can see that within a very few years , pensioners will no longer be available at all in Kruger
But , you know , this is how older people are valued in our country , and it is really really sad

Agreed okie.

Pensioners are able to go in non-peak times midweek, when the parks are looking to fill their accommodation.

Maybe there should be a rethink.
Whatever (according to BB): "You are correct but I don't want to admit it".

BB   In camps like Satara we used to get up to 40 % discounts , now nothing   And where you used to get 40 % , now you only get 20 %

And I see accommodation availability nowadays where you never did see it . Why ?
Because pensioners can not afford the full rates , and so they stay away

1)Longer stay=discount
2)Aircon=Premium for electricity
3)Tents=same price as caravans to keep rubbish out
4)Age=premium for the long showers. OK, just kidding.

:sniper: @ scipio on point 3

As a camper I think you've got this one the wrong way round kid!
I've never had to queue up in the ablutions behind people with bigger vanity cases than my suitcase for a weeks stay when I've been in a tent & they've been in a caravan, also no one I know has a satellite dish in their tent!
