This is very thought provoking. From memory my longest consecutive stint within KNP has been 2 weeks.

It was a bit of a debate prior as we weren't sure it was going to be too long..... Won't we get bored. Well that clearly didn't happen.

I would now happily spend a month in KNP if I could away from work for that long.

Will always remember overhearing and old Oom (long retired) who was checking in at Satara for circa 60 days after spending the same amount of time elsewhere. The look on the face of the lady at reception was a picture :sup:

One can dream....
To see a sunrise in KNP is to see magic.

Lower Sabie 21-24 April
Satara 25-29 April

My introduction to KNP back in 2009 gave me 3 days there.
In 2010 a whole 6 days, 2011 even 7 days, but now for 2014 a whopping 13½ days.
It might be my last one (health, age etc), but I'm looking forward to spending those days there in 22 weeks time!
Yippie!!!

Got to agree with you in a way.

We were in Kruger for 6 nights/7 days this past December
Towards the end, the kids were almost constantly ratty from being woken up for the early morning drive. And tbh I was also getting tired of seeing the inside of a car. Bearing in mind I drove on average 200km a day.

What did I do the first thing when I got home?
Checked when booking for December 2014 opened.

Booked for 6 nights again.
But the SO and I have agreed that we won't wake the kids early every morning, but will have a few lie ins.

pandl wrote:Hi we regularly visit the Kruger - we have done a couple of trips of 21 days (have to make the price of the flight from the UK worth it). I never get bored of the Park, wildlife etc BUT the food - definitely and like someone else said the lack of excercise. Hoping once we retire we can have a mega holiday north to South camping.

Our next visit is May 10th sadly for only 12 days but that's because we have Namibia booked for Oct and decided we can't wait until then.
but HEY FIVE WEEKS TODAY WE WILL BE THERE

I'm sure that all mites will agree with me that this duration of stay is just wrong on so many levels. We aren't jealous at all, shutterbug and pandl ............... Where's our invitation?!

Most I've managed is 9 consecutive nights, soon to be 10 end July/beginning August in the North.

pandl, with the current revamp of restaurants and franchises, I'm sure that your culinary experience will be worlds apart from what you've experienced before. The exercise part is definitely up to you, but a few bush and perimeter walks should sort that one out :)
The simple rule to follow with all animals is one of respect.

Now I will see how many days I can be in the Kruger this year.

Was in on the 3 Jan 2014 and another 17 days by end of June. Most probably will be again before end of year again.

wheckroodt wrote:For the most ardent Kruger visitors it is never long enough. Our Longest trip has been 10 days, will do one that's longer in the near future. Now that they have seasonal rates will start going in the low season as much as I can. Fortunately when I take guests it is normally 7 days and everything is paid for. Can't be better, being in the Kruger and it does not cost me a cent.

For me, the prob is that I can only go to Kruger once a year. And it costs me a fortune just to get to SA.
So when I am there, I feel I have to get the max out of the time available.
If I could spend more time there (paradoxically), I would take things at a more sedate pace.

Our annual holiday in kruger with my dad was 17 awesome days in December. We started looking forward to the holiday from day 1 . He planned the holidays for a full year showing us the money he is saving and where we would be staying . The roads we would take . What we can expect to see where. This was so exciting really some of the best times spent listening to his stories and plans. Today I cannot afford that kind of holiday . I dont even think i would have enough leave.

We spent 8 weeks in Apri/may last year in the Kruger, 2 weeks in Nov/Dec last year (cut short due to the floods at home in the Cape) and 4 weeks now in Feb/Mar. That's just over 3 months in the last year. Thats still not enough though. Each trip ends with us wishing we could stay longer.

Our first long stay was 6 weeks, a few years ago. This was the one that had us wondering when we planned it whether 6 weeks would be too long. Well, so much for that concern, we are now talking about 3 months, perhaps next year. I would like to do a year, but I dont think DB could stay away from our family for that long.

Experiencing the changing seasons, etc over a full year must be wonderful.
