No!!!!! What????? After hearing about high speed entourages coming through Paul Kruger Gate at break neck speed is this what they need to calm their nerves? Surely at a time like this when accommodation is deteriorating and paying guests are sleeping with sheets that have holes and bedspreads that are smelling, ill matched and full of holes this has got to be insane to spend any money like this!!! If this is true then I am gravely disappointed in Sanparks - I have still had no feedback from my January complaints but this would be a very hard pill to swallow!
NO BAIL - JAIL AND NO TRADE IN RHINO HORN EVER!

Maybe it would be better for sanparks to "maintain, service, repair, replace and upgrade what they already have"
and NOT spend money on things that are not really needed... :?
I would be far happier with nice clean bed linen, curtains and unit equipment in nicely cleaned accommodation, and the ablutions kept in a clean and acceptable condition at all times:)
than a "spa" which may not be properly maintained for the same reasons that there is problems currently with the linen as reported

And after they've built a spa? Maybe a Spur at Lower Sabie or a McDonalds at Tsokwane?

Yes , it was warned in 2007 that the thin edge of the wedge ....
KNP is sacred. I am opposed to the modernisation of Kruger and from the depths of my soul long for the Kruger of yesteryear! 1000+km on foot in KNP incl 56 wild trails.200+ nights in the wildernessndloti-indigenous name for serval.

Rhino’s are being brutally slaughtered on a daily basis and speeding vehicles, of which the occupants most probably do not care anything about Kruger, the nature or the animals, are squashing the remainder of the animals to death. I have seen those squashed or injured animals, therefore I know that it is like that. Why a SPA in Skukuza whilst the welfare of the nature and the animals are already a serious challenge and no solution is in sight?

Poor diplomats!

They will enjoy having a bit of a spa whilst the old diplomatic bag is being packed with all sorts of goodies. Then the long drive back to Joburg in their car with CD plates, blue lights flashing, before the diplomatic bag is put on a plane and flown out the country.

All said in jest Mods

Actually, having a Spur in Kruger does sound good!

But I don`t see the need for a spa, really is a silly idea.. there are so many other things they can use the money for.

Before we all go overboard
The document does not say much about the size or facilities of the SPA
And the DIP camp ( i have been there a few times) does need a serious facelift
It was intended (years ago) as a Diplomatic camp but is way outdated.

And yes, resources must be spent on anti-poaching
And on tourism as well.
What would have happened if the destructions of the recent floods were not renovated
Like Shingwedzi for eg or the Balule causeway
If SANparks did decide not to restore the low wate bridge not much harm would have been done
Yes, drive a extra hour
So tourism and environment does hand in hand imo

Please enlighten me. What and where is this DIP thing? Where will this Spa be built? What is the purpose of such a thing? Is/was there any demand for this? I, and I think a lot others, follow the media closely when it comes to Kruger matters and I must say that the need for a spa comes as a bit of a shock and surprise. I remember that a while ago, there was a questionnaire where interested parties could have their say. I can't remember if there was a question about the need for a spa.

As others have mentioned, why spend money on new things that very few people see as a necessity, instead of maintaining the existing facilities. By building a spa you will make a few happy. By spending on maintenance, you will keep the other 99,99% happy.

I completely agree with you Rooies...

If units a are maintained and clean, more people will come. It`s common business sense.
