Sad news about Tamboti and Balule!

I have a question. It's going to cost millions to fix all the damages, but what about insurance? Are Kruger's assets (movable and immovable) covered? :hmz:

Hi

I was wondering but this could be classified as a natural disaster or as something else. Sometimes this is not covered by Insurance. Not sure about this

Thanks to Joep and Lesego. Makes for a pretty depressing read .....Worst suspicions confirmed re Tamboti which was really hammered and is just a heartbreaker. As Joep says... any previous info about which units had the best view will now have to be re-assessed !! Might just have to wedge in a little scouting trip when its back to normal pre our December trip :hmz:

Was thinking that the loss of Tshokwane toilets though will definitely have an impact people out and about who hear the call? The next closest ablutions are Orpen dam but its not exactly designed for the same volumes. I assume Nkuhlu will be seeing a lot more traffic as well now until sufficient repairs are completed. If one is heading north though and Nhlanguleni and even Muzandzeni are closed, then people might need to bear this in mind when they are out and about? I wonder if SANParks should consider putting in some extra temporary builders toilets at Orpen dam?Just a thought-----

We understand how you feel Sue. It would be wonderful to hear from you when you return - perhaps share some sightings and stories

Not a bad Idea. I also thought it would be a long stretch if you are going from skukuza to satara.

Hi

Would it not be possible to put the temp toilets up in Tsokwane where there might be a spot as some people
might not go to Orpen Dam?

Very sad news about Balule & Tamboti indeed!! :( :(

I can only echo what others said earlier: "Please restore them to their previous state and do NOT modernise them"!!!!!!

Can anybody say when Balule will be opened again. My parents have a booking for 12 - 17 March. If you look at the availability calendar it shows availability from April onwards. I phoned Central Reservations and they assured me it's open!!! Who do you believe?? :wall: :wall:

mmm We're booked into Balule from the beginning of March - does anyone know how bad the damage was to that camp? Would be handy to know whether to make other plans as we are coming a long way from Cape Town :?

Dear All,

It is expected that Balule Camp site will probably be ready before bungalow side. My guestimate at this stage is that hut side could be ready by mid- March. Just a note on Lake Panic, the hide is closed, the dam on which it is located is fine, it is the dam at the golf course in the staff village that breached and is empty.

Kind regards.

JOEP
