Thanks for the update and the pics was hoping someone had pics of KNP at present. How would you describe the overall damage? Bad or all looking ok?

Hi bg5spotter, I can only comment on what I,ve seen. I didn't go into the camps but the damage to the roads that I traveled is minimal except for the surface damage around the high water bridge on the H12. It could have been much worse. I am just glad that no deaths or missing people were reported...structures can always be repaired or replaced...but not loved ones.

RosemaryH, it is good to see masses of water instead off flapping dying catfish.

Thanks for the nice comprehensive report VVG,
very glad to see CB didn't take too much damage, I had fears the bridge might have been in Mozambique.

I see on the Flooding update that Balule is still closed. Would this be because of the access road or is the camp flooded?

The reason for the question is that we intend visiting KNP May/June and plan to stay a few days at Balule, so the real question is would anyboby be prepared to guess that the camp would be operational in June?

Also the Malelane satelite camp is not mentioned at all. Is that operational (being so close to the river)?

I'm on my way to Malelane shortly......it had better be OK! Seriously - did hear all was OK and my caravan was still standing!

Does anybody have any feedback on the status of Balule & Tamboti??
I have a booking in both from 12 March and I'm very anxious to know if they'll be open by then.

I had a booking for Tambotie this comming Friday eve (on my way to Timbavati), but received a call from Sanparks Reservations and they moved me to Skukuza for Friday eve. They said that Tamboti will be operational from next Sunday, 30 January again. From what I understand (elsewhere in the forums), a portion of the fence and about 10 tents were washed away at Tamboti.

Thus, my conclusion is that you will be ok    for 12 March at Tamboti :D

Enjoy your trip :D

I see all gravel roads south of Letaba are still closed... I have a reservation in Satara for the weekend, but it seems a bit of a waste to travel all the way there if travelling is restricted to the tar roads. Any idea on when gravel roads will be open again?

Hi 'mites.

Hope that you are doing well and that you had a lovely weekend. We have more updates for you in regard to the Kruger Floods update.

Guests are urged to use water sparingly as camps/ gates and picnic spots in many area operate on emergency pumps and boreholes with limited capacity. Guests are Satara also requested to use electricity sparingly as Eskom supply line at Balule was washed away and camp is operating on standby generator.

Please Read here for the full media release. :)
