This thread is so that we can monitor the fruit Bat Population up in Skukuza.

This thread relies totally on the sightings of the public, so starting from 2 weeks ago, ANY sightings of any fruit bat in Skukuza is needed please. This is a VERY important topic as it does not only help with my research but keeps the general public updated on the progress of these bats.

When posting please post in this format...

Amount of Bats-
Location-
Time-
Date-

Notes-

Much apreciated,

Batmad

Hi batmad,
We were at Skukuza w/e 12 March, we went looking for bats and found about 6 by the main shop entrance. Nowhere else!
Regards,
Dave

We will be in Skukuza the 24th and 25th of April and make a concerted effort to see bats! We saw a few under the thatch in front of the shop entrance in March, but only forumites in the conference centre!

Guys just so you know what i am doing ;)

I am making notes on the sightings that you guys are giving me and filing them in my Kruger Bat Research File. And will eventually write up a report on the damage the chlorine tablets have caused and send it through. but only once i have substantial information.

I am doing this for all the people that love bats and that love all things small and that love all things nature and that care for the standards of our National parks.

Best regards ;)

A wonderful initiative by Batmad! The cruel eviction of bats from the outdoor cafeteria still leaves an acid taste in my mouth.

This scientific study could most definitely shed some light on bats' natural movements and other related facts!

I will keenly follow this thread!
